So I've got a macbook pro (2012) and when I try restoring an iPad mini, I get this message: "Not valid to requested build"
I've also tried to restore an iPhone 4 and 5S before, both got the same message.
But, when I do this on my old windows computer it works each time.. why's that?
iTunes is updated to newest version on both computers btw.

Any help would be appreciated, also giving rep.

That is weird.
Is your iPad jailbroken?
Have you tried to manually download the new restore and putting it on there?

You could also try this [The easy way]:
Tiny Umbrella ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
1.) Download TinyUmbrella
2.) Launch TinyUmbrella and go to the Advanced tab
3.) Uncheck the box that says Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit (If you need a clean restore from Apple uncheck this box)
4.) Close TinyUmbrella

Method 2 [The hard way]:
Editing The Files
I'm assuming you're gonna do this on your Mac so...
1.) Make sure you are logged in as administrator
2.) Open Finder
3.) Hold down COMMAND + SHIFT keys and press G
4.) Enter /private/etc/ in the field and press Go
5.) Find hosts file in the directory
6.) Drag the file to your desktop
7.) Open it in text editor
8.) Remove the line that has gs.apple.com entirely or put a # at the beginning of it to comment it out
9.) Save the file
10.) Drag it back to the /private/etc/ folder
11.) Enter your username and password to authenticate

Once this is done, proceed to restore or update your iPad. You shouldn't have any problems going forward.

I hope this helps. Gig 'em

Yup, my iPad is jailbroken.. along with the other iPhones, which didn't work.
And yes, I tried to manually download and select a 7.0.4 ipsw without any luck.
I'm gonna test out these methods, getting tierd of switching to windows each time I want to restore (I've had this problem for half a year)
So thanks for the long and nice explained reply, really appreciate it. Gave you some reputation btw.
