So basically I can't connect to xbox live on it and I have looked at it and there are numerous different answers saying you can and can't and it's all very confusing, if anyone could help resolve this problem then please do

May I add in the error message I get when testing xbox live connection is "the DNS can't resolve xbox live server names......" Etc etc

Your console cannot connect to xboxlive with out XBLSE or XBLN point blank .
