The only thing I have ever pirated is a couple albums, 1-2 movies and no games....the only real way you can get caught for sure is if you pirate one game and make hundreds of copies of it and sell it on..

Everybody wants it free, but somethings don't need to be paid for. So therefore we start the pirating. To obtain the stuff we don't feel the need to buy.

I for one am for it when it is for reasonable things. I don't think it is called for to pirate expensive items that the company works hard to make for us. They spend money to make these things for us, and if we obtain it for free we bankrupt the companies and its all a mess.

You mean as long as the ISP doesn't follow the law?

I couldn't careless if pirating was made illegal or legal.
I pay for everything I download, so I wouldn't be effected.

A little on the line myself. Not going to deny that I pirate stuff, but I classify my piracy as more of an extended trial as opposed to theft. I try it out, and if I find myself using it a lot, I'll support the developers. If I don't like it, just delete it and be happy I didn't waste X amount of money on whatever it was. If everyone did this, piracy wouldn't be as big a problem...

I like to support the devs.

If you pirate, you're not giving the company money (Obviously)

But by doing that you're taking away from the production of the next thing.

Such as games.

G_Man wrote For many years I've been against pirating.

I always bought movies, music and games, instead of illegally downloading them.

My mindset has changed though in the last year or so, prices are getting higher and higher and the companies producing and distributing these products care about making money more than the consumer.

I now pirate movies and music while I still purchase games legally. If I pirate a product and like it, I'll perhaps buy it to support the product.

Now you can say it's wrong to pirate, and I somewhat agree, but it's all wrong to extort people and rip them off. If these companies made things a bit cheaper and pushed quality over quantity, then I'd happily pay.

Do you know why prices are going higher. Because more and more people are pirating. The companies are amking less money so they have to put a higher price on things. If everyone started pirating la bunch if companies would go bankrupt

I'm all for it **** them they make enough money. Charging $60 for games $20 for movies and over $100 for most programs. They are to greedy. I don't even consider it stealing at this point. It's a virtual item they can reproduce it as many times as they want to and not lose any money. So how is it considered stealing if no one loses anything from it?

I mean the game producers are just trying to make some cash with making these games but I mean free is free. You can't argue over that. I mean if you're doing it to the point where the government is watching you then that is just stupid. I do it for stuff like windows 7 discs.
