So, this has been a recurring problem on my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, over the past few months. Basically, what has been happening is that when I try to visit the Google Play Store, it doesn't do anything other than display [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] icon and that grey toolbar at the top of the screen with the search button. Anyway, I've tried clearing my cache, but that wasn't effective, so I'm coming to you guys to see if you have any suggestions other than that!

By the way, I'm currently running Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) on an un-rooted mobile, so please don't give me any third party apps for rooted phones etc..

Thanks in advance and merry Christmas! :xmas:

Well, first off, your device is extremely outdated, that's part of the problem. Secondly, it sounds like a Touchwiz/network problem and not a Google problem. Any additional info would be super helpful.

I've been searching for Software Updates since around April, yet I'm always told there is no new update, despite the fact Jellybean has supposedly been released for my phone already.

Also, I'd be happy to provide extra information - What would you like to know?

Just because Samsung pushes JB for your device doesn't mean the carrier will. That's why carriers being in control of updates is BS. That's why I got a Nexus.

Anyways, let me know the Android OS version, Google Play version, and the exact model number for your phone.

I'm running 2.3.6, my Google Play's version is 4.5.10 and my model number is 'GT-I8160' (without the apostrophes). Thanks for doing this, by the way!

Best bet is probably a factory reset to be honest. Not much else I can think of.
