So I've noticed a huge controversy over whether or not Rockstar will be issuing penalties/bans for exploits & or cheating/modding in GTA V. I first of all am not against modding or cheats in any way. The problem arises when individuals use these methods to acquire advantages over other players, which is considered foul play. This thread is referring to glitch exploitations, loopholes, modding, and network manipulation, NOT THE CHEAT CODES!
Before anyone begins to defend against the Rockstar bans, I will shed light on those who do not already know; video games much like other merchandise you purchase has terms of use and/or service, denoting what you can and cannot do under their service legally(whilst being online). Here is a brief look at the Code of Conduct Rockstar has issued for their games as a collective, with notable text in blue;

You agree, by using the Online Services, that:
(1) you will only use the Online Services for lawful purposes, in compliance with applicable laws, for your own personal, non-commercial use;
(2) you will not restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Online Services (for example, by means of harassment, hacking or defacement);
(3) you will not use the Online Services to create, upload, or post any material that is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, harassing, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of ones privacy, in violation of any law, or is inconsistent with community standards;
(4) you will not post, upload, or create any copyrighted material using the Online Services unless you own the copyright in and to such material;
(5) you will not post, upload, or transmit any information or software that contains a virus, worm, timebomb, cancelbot, trojan horse or other harmful, disruptive, or deleterious component;
(6) you will not post, upload, create, or transmit materials in violation of another partys copyright or other intellectual property rights;
(7) you will not cheat or utilize any unauthorized robot, spider, or other program in connection with the Online Services; and
(8) you will not impersonate any other individual or entity in connection with your use of the Online Services. All determinations will be made by the Company in its sole discretion.
And thats just scratching the surface. To find the full terms of use & service for further clarification, visit [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

POSSIBLE PENALTIES FOR BREACH OF ToS
Mild Offense
-fine of in-game fees
-repossession of improperly acquired merchandise and/or funds
Moderate Offense
-ranking and stats reset or revoked entirely
-isolation into specific matchmaking pool
-loss of certain online privileges
Serious Offense
-matchmaking blocked
-no Xbox Live access in-game altogether

KNOWN REASONS FOR PENALIZATION
-Los Santos Customs glitch (selling same car until desired amount of $ is met.) Rockstar can detect this method quite easily by looking at how you acquired the funds in such a short amount of time, usually within the half hour.

*Updated periodically when new information is available

So theres some reading material, but it should clarify any doubts you may have. Please help keep the public, online community free of these cheats and exploits to maintain a fun playing environment for all involved. Keep the modding offline and use a private lobby if you wish to use the cheats or hacks. Obviously breaching any of these agreements makes you eligible for a suspension, ban, or a penalty depending on the offense.

Well thanks for reading, took a little time to write but I'm hoping this will help others who either dont know or understand. Please comment with thoughts and sticky. I will be updating the thread with known bans and possible repercussions as they are made known, so send me a informative message if you are contacted by Rockstar for anything of the like and I can update this thread if need be. Thanks again!

Sticky?

I would also make it look a little cleaner by adding spaces and underlining and making the titles bigger.

Fantastic post though.

Question. If you didn't link your account to social club would you still get banned?

GTAO is in a different league from GTAIV, they're really into GTAO and want to make it top notch, which means getting rid of cheats and exploiters, that's why they invented the cheaters pool to separate those from the others.

The only reason they'll punish the money exploiters is because they are trying to sell money, otherwise they wouldn't worry about it.

Its definitely possible. Either way they can tell just by looking at statistics in the game. For example, accumulating more than $1 000 000 within an hour would raise a red flag. They would then look to see what you sold and earned. If you sold the same $100 000 car 10 times its pretty obvious to them that somethings going on.
