What exactly happens when the Gov't shuts down? Do schools close? Do people not go to work?

Lol I wish schools shut down! How cool that'd be? Especially at the convenience of GTA V online tomorrow ;)

No work will be affected unless you work for the federal government. Nothing will really affect most of us unless you're planning to visit a national park or the Smithsonian.

How so? It just affects the non-essential federal government workers.

Thanks for the downvote.

A government shutdown is a situation in which the government stops providing all but "essential" services. Typically, federal services that continue despite a shutdown include the National Weather Service and its parent agencies, medical services at federal facilities, the postal service, armed forces, air traffic management, and corrections (the penal system). A government shutdown is similar to a lockout in the private sector.

Are you serious? Schools are open & you're jumping to the conlclusion how a few days could affect our education & whole future. We'd make up the days in summer.

"I wish schools shut down" lol. Obviously schools are open when did I ever say they were closed? And "make up days in the summer" never met anyone that actually wants to take the time to make up days in the summer.
