I have a Thermaltake TR2 700W power unit that, I believe, just broke on me today. When plugged in the motherboard has the green light indicating that it has power but when I press the on button everything starts up for half a second and stops. I've tried everything. I threw in my old PSU and it worked fine so is my PSU just shot or what?

Sounds like its dead or one of the connectors is not making a good contact on the 24pin mobo connector or the 4/8 pin power connector.

Well it appears the board has some power at least try your CPU power and make sure it is properly connected sometimes things come disconnected over time. So in that case u might want to check all your cables are all properly fited

This is a very common problem for new builders, don't worry i did it too.
The problem is you have plugged something into the wrong place, and the anti surge kicked in to stop it blowing. So i suggest taking it all apart and doing an external build first (Something you should always do).
Make sure to read the instructions.

If the PSU is old and worn out/faulty it might be fine providing standby power but unable to provide enough for the computer to start up. happened to one of my old PSU's, when the PC was off the lights on the mobo were lit up but it cut out after 1 second of the PC been on.
