Hear the call of duty once again with this seventh entry in this blockbuster first-person shooter franchise. Call of Duty: Black Ops takes you deep behind enemy lines into the world of deniable operations as a member of an elite special forces unit engaging in covert warfare, classified operations, and explosive conflicts across the globe. With access to a variety of exclusive weaponry and equipment, your actions will tip the balance during the most dangerous time period mankind has ever known.

There's only a couple of weeks to go but there still may be a handful of things you didn't know about Call of Duty: Black Ops' multiplayer as Treyarch details new features such as online splitscreen and in-game friends lists.

Online splitscreen allows a second player to join in on one connected console, with the guest able to rank up and earn XP points along the way, though it'll reset after they've signed out. It's a feature of past Call of Duty games that was stripped out for Modern Warfare, and its return will doubtless be welcomed.

There's other new and tweaked features that may have slipped everyone's attention when they were too busy gawping at Eminem, Rhianna or snorting canaps at one of Black Ops' pre-release events, and Treyarch's Josh Olin has been kind enough to detail them on the PlayStation blog.

An in-game friends list also makes the art of humiliating familiars with a knife to the skull that much easier, enabling you to browse recent players and their records, and those who like making the trip again and again will be pleased to hear that emblems will now not reset once a player reaches Prestige.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is launching on November 9.
