To be honest I think it does make sense;
If Heaven and Hell do exist I personally believe that if you are a genuinely good person you will go to heaven regardless of faith and religion as people are normally raised by religion from a young age and then are brought up by religion and don't get a say in other regions and faiths until they become older.

Sounds like an excuse to try and quell the obvious Atheist increase.
People are waking up to the corrupt nature of the Church.

If that's what he wants to believe, great.

I think heaven is just a thing to make people not too scared or dying.. Like they think they will be reunited with lost family members.

That could be true. Maybe give more closure to the people who don't believe? Because face it, even if you are a non-believer you're always bring up God or Jesus in some way.

But what if you're not afraid of dying? You're always going to have the thought of heaven or hell always until you die.
