With the announcement of this "All-in-one" X-box, I can't help but wonder if this X-box is actually going to be a "Gamer" console, or just a more family orientated console, more like the Wii. It seems the One is trying to target the whole family, could this result in proper "Gamers" being left behind slightly, and maybe being pushed more towards the PS4, or PC?

I think they are pushing more towards a family console, but it was a terrible way to do it.

If you're a hardcore gamer (such as myself) i'd definitely consider making the switch to PS4 or PC.

I'm currently seriously considering moving to PC, there are more "Hardcore" games, such as Arma. I don't want a family entertainment system which I can watch tv on, rent films etc, I want a proper gaming console, which doesn't have "shortcuts" you can buy and has proper games, not just eye candy broken up with some bits of overly scripted gameplay *cough* COD *cough*

The Kinect and the fact it needs to be online within 24 hours to work are really the only two downfalls that I see with the console itself. I don't exactly see how "hardcore" gamers are going to be affected if all of these other media entertainment apps are optional of use. It just gives people more options. I can't see where that is bad at all. As long as it is still catering to gamers, then there really is no problem. The only thing I really saw that the PS4 was getting that Xbox seemed to not get was the ability to take control in your friend's game to help them out. I don't really see that feature being a big issue though.
