The Simpsons Tapped Out is a game for Phones/Tablets etc, it is available on Google Play and the iOS App Store.

Today I will show you how to play it on a PC, this works on Windows, Mac and Linux!

Steps: ( Windows & Mac )

  • Download and Install BlueStacks - If then install crashes on preserving user data, restart the installer.
  • When installed, click the search button, and search for "The Simpsons Tapped Out"
  • Find the game, and click the "Install" button on the right.
  • You will be asked to link a Google account, follow the steps and do so. (Google account is required for the program to download it from Google Play
  • After linking it with BlueStacks (BlueStacks is considered a phone, do not be confused when it asks you to link it to your phone.) you can install the game.
  • When installed, simply click "My Apps" and click the game to play!
  • The game when installed will update, after that, log into your origin account (bottom left) and play.

I don't know much about Linux, but I think you will be able to run BlueStacks using Wine.

You would have to search it. Sorry.

Sean beat me to it.

Be wary though, never click the home button if you are in window mode, this may occur and you will have to restart bluestacks.

Second bug:

If you try to use the donuts but do not have enough and it redirects you to the store you will be unable to go back to the game unless you close it & restart bluestacks or you hit the home button, and wait 1-3 mins for the app to close itself.

I made it my challenge to get it running on Linux.

What i did.

Installing the below is only done once it's not as scary as it looks.

1)Run in Terminal
sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre openjdk-7-jdk icedtea-7-plugin

2)Run this in Terminal
wget http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r21.1-linux.tgz

3)Run this in Terminal to extract the downloaded file
tar -xvzf android-sdk_r21.1-linux.tgz

4)then
cd android-sdk-linux/tools/

5) Then
./android

You should get the below click install far right

Once you get the message saying the SDK and AVD are updated

6) Go back into Terminal and run from home
gedit ~/.bashrc

Copy and paste the below into the file like so and save

7)

export PATH=${PATH}:~/android-sdk-linux/tools

export PATH=${PATH}:~/android-sdk-linux/platform-tools

Once this is done Restart Linux.

Now you have the SDK installed use terminal and put in
android avd
this will start the SDK you can make a launcher if you want.

Click New and use the settings i have

Click the new item and hit start

Once it loads up you should have a screen that looks like a phone (android sdk)
