I have been a member for well over a year now, and I can say for certain, that this, as well as a good majority of other sites like it, are a giant waste of time. I started by hosting modded lobbies on ps3. I bought two ps3's via a good deal, and hosted for the better part of 4 months. A simple thank you was too much to ask for, not even thanking the topic, just a thanks in general, and people became overtly greedy. It got to the point where I was receiving threats if I did not let them in the lobbies. I promptly sold the extra ps3, and my value as a member decreased sharply. I'll admit, I used it as an outlet to market for my YouTube channel, but then I realized even that was a waste of time. The prime problem with sites like this is that probably 95% of the members are working towards their own possible gain. When was the last time you had a legitimate conversation on one of these sites. All opinion posts turn into flame wars that get locked and are full of fourteen year old kids trying to see how many thumbs up they can get for some stupid joke. Now I can admit, not all members are like this. But the fact remains that sites such as this cater to a younger and less mature community. It is nothing against the site or the content it promotes, the blame lies with the selfishness of the users. I used to love the site. But the topics and their gradual digression to basically mundane attempts at grabbing attention have ruined it entirely. And on that, I will say goodbye TTG. I'll stick to reading the actual articles and the news forum. /rant

I believe that I am in the 5% that does not apply to this topic, but you are absolutely correct. I have noticed that in my time of TTG I have respected peoples personal opinion and now even I have to post about what is right and wrong about it. I agree with the rant, I have noticed that this is becoming a younger community than it normally was when I joined two years ago. I have noticed more scammers and more illegitimate hosters, trying to get subs on their YouTube channel. TTG isn't the same.

This topic is so true, not to mention how many experts you find on here, who know TTG had an expert in everything you could think of.

Clearly falls within the 95% then.

Just avoid the Call of Duty section and 70% of those 95% will magically disappear. I get threats on XBL that people will report me for System Tampering if I don't inv them to a lobby, yet I tell them how to do it themselves?

I think when this generation (I'm 21) was 15, 16 playing CoD, we were less threatening and abusive, I think today's generation of squeakers on XBL & (possibly) PSN get brought up on the services only knowing rage and profanity.

As a kid who has just turned 15 in April, I am sad to say that yes, the kids my age obsess over getting into 10th lobbies, getting 8,000 posts, getting badges, etc.

Its very stereotypical though, because I have to admit, I am in the 5% that gives back to the community, and does not care about getting into those lobbies, because I host them myself. Why do these kids complain about not getting into a lobby? They are too stupid and lazy to learn how to host themselves. I have a JTAG along with a topic that is open 24/7 for gamesave modding found here:

Gamesave Modding | Xbox 360 | Rainboom

I've been gifted gold for being helpful, along with being nice to others for being a Brony. (Don't hate, because that's not the point)

I like to get help too, and am not afraid to ask how to get stuff like different torrents, modding on my JTAG, and even differet programs to use on my laptop. I am glad that we have wonderful staff here, along with members like you that like to help.

I appreciate all of the mature responses. It's nice to know that, though a minority, members can still identify a problem spreading throughout the community. The focus of these sites needs to be less self-serving. The amount of people that actually contribute to this site pales heavily in comparison to the amount of people using it for their own personal gain.
