I logged onto my laptop today to find that the sound has completely stopped working.
The sound icon in the bottom right now has a little red circle with a white X on it, when I hover over it I get the message No Audio Output Device is installed.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I would really appreciate the help.

It sounds like your drivers need updated.

EDIT: Click >start button >Update device drivers >Sound, video and game controllers

Right click the speaker icon, then press playback devices. It should have a device you can use along the lines of Speakers/(Laptop Brand).

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

If you can see the speaker option, click it and press make default.

If you don't see an option for speakers, or its already set as default. Check the manufacturers website for new drivers.

Click >start button >Search: Update device drivers >Sound, video and game controllers

Once you have done that right click and update driver software.

You might have to download the drivers manually of the manufactures website.

I tried downloading the updated drivers but my laptop still displays No Audio Output Device is installed.
