hey im looking to get a new gfx card, my current specs are:

Processor: i5 3750k
GFX Card: GTX 550 Ti
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengence
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm
PSU: Corsair TX650M

im looking at a 660 3gb non ti, a 660ti and a 670 (all gtx js.)
i play mainly fps games including bf3, crysis 3, cod4, cod bo2, cs:go, borderlands 2 occasionally, and many more
so obviously the 670 is the best but its also the most expensive, i orinally wanted the 670 and i wont have to upgrade for a while but if i get the 660 which is alot cheaper then i would save money, i know they 670 is what most of yoiu think but is it really worth the extra money from the 660 as i dont need stupid fps numbers, 60+ is all i care about (other than cod4 which i need 250 but i can get that with my 550ti)

If any of you have experience with theses cards let me know anything about them.
Thanks

I can't decide for you how much you want to spend. If you're after a budget card, the right 7850 can be overclocked to perform as well as a stock 7950. This card has ridiculous potential and I'd say it's easily the best bang for your buck card. There's a lot of good information about 7850 overclocking and overvolting in [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

As for what card you should get, this article names all the best cards for the price at their respective price points.

I would say GTX 660 or 680 with at least 2gb RAM for video gfx.

Both are outperformed by their AMD competitors, the 7870 and 7970 respectively. That doesn't mean I'm saying AMD is better, Nvidia wins at some price points and many more depending on what the card is being used for. VRAM is not any way to judge performance, either.

I forgot to add that CoD at 250 FPS should look the same as CoD at 60 FPS. Your monitor is almost certainly 60 Hz, which means it cannot display greater than 60 FPS and more may cause tearing. If you're shooting for high FPS to prevent framerate drops, don't worry about it. If FPS with Vsync on goes below 60 FPS, it would do the same with it off.

That's your loss, unfortunately. The EVGA reference cards tend to have shorter PCBs which result in less overclocking potential and the blower coolers just aren't nearly as effective as the non-reference coolers. You're sacrificing a lot of cooling and acoustic performance. Besides, the Gigabyte "Triangle Cool" cards look AMAZING when they're installed.

I can't be the only one who think that looks good.

You can get a backplate for the 7970 that will make it look better than any bare PCB for less. There are plenty of options and you can even get a custom one [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . Or you could just get a 7970 with a black PCB, like one of these:

And if you don't overclock your card, you're wasting a lot of free performance. It involves dragging a few sliders, that's it.
