In my opinion, I would not buy the game. One of my friends purchased it and let me have a go for about a week and I just didnt like it (too many bugs, hackers, abusive devs, immature community, not as described etc..). Although this was back in november 2012 so I am pretty sure there have been some major changes. Have you tried the arma II mod DayZ? That is a much more realistic game although it is very hard to run and you need an above average pc. It is the rival of this game.

The final decisions comes down to your personal opinion. If you have friends that play it then go ahead and buy it, don't let me stop you.

If you want a over cumbersome and buggy/glitchy experience, please by all means get DayZ as suggested above. Unlike DayZ the game you are asking about(WarZ) actually has a centralized server infrastructure that allows players to ACTUALLY join servers in a reasonable amount of time. DayZ has 3 different loading screens and thats IF it decides to let you in at all. Watch gameplay of both to decide yourself but I personally cannot stand DayZ after playing WarZ due to DayZ's shortcomings(NO JUMP, WHAT IS THIS 2003?!?!).

A game doesn't need the ability to jump to be good, I mean, just look at the Zelda franchise, one of the most popular and beloved video game franchises of all time. You can vault in Dayz to get over obstacles. DayZ also had a patch recently that shortened their load times, now it's all based on server latency, and what add-ons the server has, such as custom loading screens, anti-hacks, etc.

Are you trying to tell me WarZ isn't glitchy?
Fall down a two-foot slope? Half your health gone.
Jump on top of a rock? Fall in the rock and get kicked.
The character animations and zombie AI are horrid.
They copied their terms of service from League of Legends.
The DEVELOPERS cheat in-game.
They ban players unjustifiably.
Worse textures than Half-Life.

And the list goes on:

I'm not defending DayZ, hell, if you hit a door against your face you get knocked out, the zombie AI isn't the greatest, either, but it's WAY better than CopyZ.

But hey, that's just my opinion. Buy the game if you think you'll like it, who am I to stop people from playing a game that they might enjoy more than 70%+ of the people who've played it?

LOL you post a video from a blow hard like rhinochrunch, he himself is a moron in his own right. That above action of attempting to defend your point by posting his video should be more than enough for someone to avoid your opinion. A average DayZ or even ARMA2 server's average load time after the patches you mentioned is still terrible compared to WarZ.

If you got your facts straight you would know 3/4 of your listed WarZ faults are outright patched or in the process of.

Are you trying to tell me WarZ isn't glitchy? Compared to DayZ? No

Fall down a two-foot slope? Half your health gone. 95% of this issue is gone

Jump on top of a rock? Fall in the rock and get kicked. Again mostly fixed as of latest patches

The character animations and zombie AI are horrid. Matter of opinion there

They copied their terms of service from League of Legends. Are you new to the internet? A large portion of your favorite games and services at some point copy and pasted some portion of their terms or rules.

The DEVELOPERS cheat in-game. Should not be done in public, you got this one

They ban players unjustifiably. Compared to DayZ's hacks? This is a stroll in the park

Worse textures than Half-Life. Stop playing on a potato

Neither game is perfect but I prefer a company like Hammerpoint over a white knight like rocket. Unless DayZ standalone is polished beyond belief(I sincerely doubt it ever will be due to the poor engine pick. Read up on ARMA2 when it launched as well to date, it is notoriously buggy in its own right even without mods). I will never recommend that pile over WarZ due to the reasons above.

Both games will keep their niche fans but it is my opinion WarZ will maintain a more enjoyable experience overall than DayZ in the foreseeable future.

I'm not trying to start something here.

If a moron can figure out all this crap on his own, maybe he isn't such a moron after all.
hippie wrote Compared to DayZ? No

They both have game-breaking bugs that developers still haven't fixed.
hippie wrote 95% of this issue is gone

After, what, weeks, if not months of constant complaining? They can't be THAT busy.

hippie wrote Matter of opinion there

I guess characters wobbling side to side like a bowl of jello is a good idle animation. I wouldn't mind the "cautious but alert" idle animation, if they would have implemented it correctly, that is, in this case, they didn't.

hippie wrote Are you new to the internet? A large portion of your favorite games and services at some point copy and pasted some portion of their terms or rules.

You may be right, but at least they don't steal it from other people, don't bother to change the name of the game they're copying, and pass it on as "their rules."
hippie wrote Compared to DayZ's hacks? This is a stroll in the park

What are you talking about? I wasn't talking about banning players for hacking, I'm saying they ban people for stupid reasons, such as playing too much. You're right, DayZ has a lot of hackers, but you can't tell me WarZ doesn't.

How about we stop arguing over a video game, hm?

OP, don't listen to us bicker about which game is worse or better, it really doesn't matter in the end. If you want to try a game out, don't let anyone stop you, heck, I'd even give you a guest pass if my email provider didn't get shut down. If you enjoy it, good for you.

Friendly banter over the topic asked is what a forum is tasked to facilitate, as I was saying "NO JUMP, WHAT IS THIS 2003?!?!".

Anyway as the poster above said OP, its up to you.

as stated there were alot of bugs for WarZ but there were for dayz in the begining too. 90 percent of what is listed there has been patched. There are still alot of hackers but the new anti cheat system seems to have banned quite alot i played for around 4-5 hours today and havnt seen a hacker.

its up to you what you want. personaly id go with WarZ. atleast for now it doesnt cost much and in a few months the DayZ standalone should be out and im hoping that will be much better than the mod.

DayZ still has long loading times on MOST servers and even then you will be joining the game and get booted for no reason.

I like Warz a lot. And if you were gonna buy right now then go with Warz. No point in buying arma 2 if you are just gonna be playing dayz. Also posting a video of Rhinocrunch, the tool of all tools, is gonna prove any points. He is the most biased person ever. Yes the dates of when the development actually started may be a bit sketchy but oh well. I don't really care if its true or not. That doesn't change the fact that the game is a good game(at least in my opinion). I plan on getting Dayz standalone when it comes out so I can give an unbiased reason to myself on which one I rather play. There really is no way to tell you which one is better. They are in the same genre of games, not copies of each other like people like to think. Its like cod and battlefield. Cod may sell more but a lot of people still think Battlefield is better. Its all opinion based and you never will be able to tell which one you like more if you don't give each one a fair chance.
