its always been either democrats or republicans and never any 3rd party since george washington.

False. A third-party canidate has already been elected. Millard Fillmore (1850-1853) of the Whig Party was the last third party candidate to be elected president.

I thought the party system was introduced after George Washington by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson because they had opposing views?

George Washington tried to prevent Political Parties because he thought it would be the downfall of America.

I wish we would have listened.

You probably thought for a moment that 1850-1853 was during the Revolutionary War.(1775-1783)
