Story Line
The game is set during the Second Era, in 2E 583, during a period of time known as the Interregnum. It was a period of time known for its political instability. Daedric prince Molag Bal has taken advantage of this instability to try and pull all of Tamriel into his realm of Coldharbour. Bal is doing so by sending devices called "Dark Anchors" into Tamriel. The Fighters Guild have taken it upon themselves to remove them.

The Tharn family, current rulers of Cyrodiil through Empress Regent Clivia Tharn, has made a pact with the King of Worms, who has agreed to supplement the Imperial's forces by resurrecting their soldiers.Secretly, Mannimarco is conspiring with Molag Bal, the Daedric Prince of Corruption and Domination, to take over Mundus. Molag Bal is also harvesting the souls of mortals. (The Hero is an adventurer whose soul has been taken, which allows them to constantly return to life.)

Confirmed Features:
-Player vs Player. (Available after Level 10)
-This game will be available in three different languages: English, French and German
-Time-travel will be featured in the game. In one example, the player puts on some old armor and is put in the owner's role, participating in a battle of long ago.
-Mundus Stones will be used to give characters special abilities.
-Fast Traveling will be available through unlocked Wayshrines.
-Mounts will also be included.
-Classes will be used, including Dragonknight and Templar. Other classes include Sorcerer, Warden, and Nightblade. Classes will only define the special abilities of the characters, not the weapon choices.
-One of the major Skills will be Synergy
*One Synergy skill is called "Conduit" (Which turned a non-lethal lightning buff into an Area-Of-Effect Lighting Attack)
*Synergy Skills are those that naturally blend players' skills together to bring down tougher enemies.
*Another example: A mage casts fire. A warrior can then go in and start throwing fireballs in every direction".
Combat
-Players will be rewarded for successfully attacking, blocking and dodging through the "Finesse" system. Once significant finesse points are earned, players are able to use a designated Finesse attack, called Ultimate Abilities, which level up the more it is used.Ultimate Abilities are Class-based, meaning that each class will have different Ultimate Abilities.
-Crafting: Crafting elements can be done in cities as well as in the wilderness.
-Players will be able to own a pet, which they can use in combat.
-Daedric Artifacts will exist in the game, and will be tied to the Fighters Guild storyline.
-Only 5 Abilities will be available at once, however these can be changed.
Abilties can be leveled up to become more powerful the more they are used.
-6 Skills can be used at any one time:
*The first two are weapons skills.
*The next three are class skills.
*The final skill is the Ultimate Ability.
-PVP: In Cyrodiil, combat will revolve around the capturing of Keeps and its surrounding buildings. It is designed for 10-15 players to take a keep, 10 for an Outpost, and 4-6 for a support structure such as a farm or Lumber Mill.
-Fast Travel in Cyrodiil will be different from the rest of the game. Instead of the Wayshrines, players will travel to the Keeps that they control (Other than those currently under attack)
-Seige Weapons will not only be in the game, but will be craftable and customisable.
-Alliance Points: An Alternative advancement system, with 23 ranks at launch. A "lifetime alliance point tally", each rank will give a new title and alliance icon. (Similar to faction ranks in Morrowind and Oblivion).
-Guilds will exist in the game . Players will get advanced information regarding a keep if it is controlled by their Guild.
-Guilds will be specific to a Faction's campaign.
-Public Dungeons will be instanced. That is to say, once you reach Level 50, new areas of the dungeon will open up, and you will be able to see the results of your actions previously in that dungeon. These are known as Adventure Zones
-Morality and Criminality will be added to the game after launch.
-Emotes will be available, as will flags for the Megaserver to group players in.

Characters(Player Interactive)

Abnur Tharn

He is a decesive man, and is from a line of "Secret Daedric Worshippers," which is just one more reason the Alliances wish to "take him out." He is working with the Necromancer Lord Mannimarco in order to combine Nirn with Coldharbour, Molag Bal's Daedric Realm, after realising the threat posed by the Ebonheart Pact, Aldmeri Dominion and Daggerfall Covenant. [1]

He is known to have personally tortured Ayrenn prior to her becoming queen, and this is one reason for the Aldmeri Dominion deciding to try and conquer Cyrodiil.

Almalexia

Almalexia is a member of the Tribunal. She is also a member of the Ebonheart Pact, as a prominent member, and appears in The Elder Scrolls Online.

Queen Ayrenn

Queen Ayrenn is a female Altmer to appear in The Elder Scrolls Online. She will lead the forces of the Aldmeri Dominion against the other Alliances to gain control of the Imperial Throne. "She is young for a High Elf, a mere 28 years old"(Quoted from Elder Scrolls Online website)and also credited with helping to restore order to Elsweyr during the Second Era following the outbreak of the Khahaten Flu. She has a sense of humour rarely seen in other Altmer.

She also helped the Bosmer King Aeradan to repel the Colovians.

Clivia Tharn

Empress Regent Clivia Tharn is Empress of Tamriel during The Elder Scrolls Online.

She is part of the Tharn family, her father Abnur Tharn is High Chancellor and Imperial Battlemage of the Elder Council.

Her family has a long line of being secret Daedra worshippers. One Daedra Prince they worship is Molag Bal, her family is also working with the Necromancer Lord Mannimarco by resurrecting the fallen Imperial soldiers.

King Emeric

Emeric was originally a merchant lord from High Rock. His shrewd policies and masterful diplomacy helped establish an alliance with the Redguards and a war treaty with the Orsimer promising their homeland provincial status. This earned him the trust of the kings of High Rock and he rose to the position of High King.

He rules from Wayrest in High Rock.

Guardian of the Three

The Guardian of the Three is a creature that appears in The Elder Scrolls Online. It is a level 50 character, and is known to reside at the East Mournhold Wayshrine.

King Jorunn the Skald King

Jorunn was born in 2E 546 to Queen Mabjarn Flame-Hair. His sister, Nurnhilde, was the eldest, and heir to the throne. His Mother and Sister later died in the Sack of Windhelm . Jorunn, from eastern Skyrim, was appointed acting High King after the Great Moot, a unique form of government where decisions must be ratified by all composite parties. He rules from the ancient city of Windhelm.

He is said to have a sense of humor and an "iron will to succeed".

Lieutenant Rana

Lieutenant Rana is a member of the Ebonheart Pact. She is charged with defending the citizens of Bleakrock. When the Daggerfall Covenant attack the isle, she will help the citizens that the character finds, reach safety.

Malkur Valos

Malkur Valos was the only child of the Dunmer wizard, Maros Valos. When Malkur's mother died in childbirth, Maros summoned a Golden Saint to protect and care for his son. Maros was killed in a mage's duel and Malkur's Daedric protector honored her commitment to the infant by taking him to Lord Sheogorath's realm.

The son of a powerful Dunmer wizard, Malkur is naturally gifted in the arcane arts and shares the distrusting, disdainful temperament of his race. Under the tutelage of the Aureals, Malkur acquired steadfast principles of honor, duty, and fidelity to his word. The inescapable influence of the Shivering Isles imbued him with a measure of unpredictability in his methods.

Eventually, Malkur was drawn to return to his native Tamriel, where his talent, honor, and innovation soon caught the attention of Vanus Galerion. When Malkur swore to uphold the principles and objectives of the Mages Guild, those principles and objectives became the unwavering core driving his every action, though that was not always apparent to superficial observers.

Gavis Velas, who died in 3E 427 while avenging his brother, Ovis, is a descendant of Malkur Valos.

Mannimarco

In the Second Era, Mannimarco, an Altmer necromancer, forged a pact with the Tharn family to supplement the Imperial forces by resurrecting their soldiers.

Secretly, he is conspiring with Molag Bal to bring Mundus into Coldharbour with the help of an undead army that he has resurrected.

Molag Bal

Molag Bal is the Daedric Prince of domination and enslavement of mortals. His only desire is to harvest the souls of mortals and to bring mortals souls within his sway by spreading seeds of strife and discord in the mortal realms. He holds much importance in Morrowind, where he is seen as the archenemy of Boethiah, the Daedric Prince of Plots.

Races:
Races are based in certain factions, and I will name each faction, and all of the races below it.

EbonHeart Pact:

Argonian:

Argonians are a reptilian race who hail from Black Marsh. They are one of the few native races still inhabiting Tamriel. They are known for high intelligence, breathing under water indefinitely and having natural resistances to disease. During the Second Era (approximately 1000 years before Skyrim), the Argonians rose to power in the Black Marsh after a plague wiped out the other races in the area. Many speculate that a powerful Argonian mage may have concocted this plague, since it's odd that the Argonians didn't succumb to it!

Dunmer:

Dunmer, also called DarkElves, hail from Morrowind. They are the Elder Scrolls variation of dark elves, a popular fictional race in role-playing games and fantasy literature. Gameplay-wise, they are well-balanced (tending towards a battlemage or spellsword class). The Dunmer are the descendants of the Chimer, who were punished by the Daedric goddess Azura for the betrayal of their General,Indoril Nerevar. Azura's punishment was to turn the color of all the Chimer race's skin to ash-gray and their eyes to ruby red.

Native-born Dunmer tend to look down on "outlanders", which are other races or Dunmer born outside of Morrowind, though the intensity of this xenophobia varies from place to place. The land from which the Dunmer hail is to the far east of the Empire and is commonly known as Morrowind (which contains the island of Vvardenfell). Slavery is practiced in Morrowind, and slaves are mostly either of Khajiit or Argonian descent, although some men and elves are also enslaved there, a practice that had been more common in the past. (Because of the past enslavement, some Khajiit and Argonians have a bone-deep hatred for the Dunmer.) The Empire of Tamriel has a ban on slavery but, as part of the terms of Morrowind's entrance into the Empire, Dunmer were allowed to keep their own sacred and traditional laws. However, in the sequel to Morrowind, Oblivion, it is revealed that slavery has been abolished and the slaves freed by the king of Morrowind Province, Hlaalu Helseth, with HouseDresand HouseHlaalu supporting the move. (Released or past escaped Khajiit slaves are attempting to mass in a Dunmer resistance in Elsweyr.) This can be discovered through dialogue with recurring characters from Morrowind.

Though some Dunmer, especially of House Hlaalu, have become assimilated into Imperial and foreign culture, almost all retain many of their traditions and values, and some Dunmer even prefer living atribal life as Ashlanders - in small, tight-knit tribes in the deserts and scorched plains of the Ashlands and on the plains of the Grazelands. In the Ashlands, native tribes rule without laws or care for government, and live strictly by honour codes, rituals and ancient traditions usually dictated by a wise woman or seer. Historically, half of the ancient Dunmer chose this lifestyle, with the others creating or joining the Great Houses and establishing such cities as Balmora or Vivec. The land is so harsh and dangerously infested with creatures such as Alits and cliff racers that westerners and Imperial garrisonmen dare not venture out of the safety of Dunmer settled areas. Dunmer do not ride horses, or own them for that purpose - rather, horses in Morrowind are raised for the slaughter, to be eaten as food. This fact mentioned, with some hesitation, by Morrowind's level designer Gary Noonan, during a development chat as a cautionary note against the possible inclusion of rideable horses in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. A chat in which Morrowind's lead character designer also assured expectant consumers that, in Morrowind, there would be "no horse eating allowed".Horses were definitively excluded from the game by Todd Howard in February 2001. Ken Rolston offered the Dunmer diet as a rationale for why the game ended up without them.

The Dunmer themselves, previously known as the Chimer, or 'changed folk' due to their worship of the Daedra, rather than the Aedra (Gods) worshipped by the other Aldmer in Summerset, traditionally gained their dark skin as a result of the Battle of Red Mountain. It was in this battle that the Dwemer vanished. The Dwemer are a major part of Dunmeri history. During the battle, all Dwemer mysteriously disappeared, presumably by their own technology. Though the change in the elves' skin tone was traditionally interpreted as the will of Azura, alternative theories certainly exist. The Dwemer's complex technology could have been the cause instead, as it functioned on a technological level incomprehensible to the "old-world" style, horses-and-swords environment present in the Elder Scrolls world. The official Imperial line of thought, however, is that the Dunmer simply exterminated the Dwemer and that their bluish-grey skin is the result of adaptation to their harsh, rather volcanic environment.
Nord:

Nords are a tall, fair-haired people who settled in the cold, mountainous province of Skyrim after leaving their homeland on another continent. They are tough and hardy with a natural resistance to frost. They shy away from the arcane arts, preferring to be great heavy warriors.

Aldmeri Dominion:

Altmer:

Altmer, or more commonly known as High Elves, inhabit the Isle of Summerset (or Summerset Isle). They were the first race to bring language, arts, and culture to the continent of Tamriel, which might explain their arrogant and proud natures. They are the most magically proficient race in Tamriel.

Bosmer:

The Bosmer, or Wood Elves, are distant cousins of the Altmer. They settled in Valenwood after deciding that they wanted a less formal, hierarchical form of society. They are very much in tune with the forests they live in and are stealthy and quick. Their appearance even resembles the province of Valenwood where they live, and they have an air of youthfulness not seen in the other elven races. They are known for being the best archers on the continent.

Khajiit:

Hailing from the province of Elsweyr, the Khajiit are a catlike race native to Tamriel. They are known for intelligence, quickness, and agility. They make excellent thieves due to their natural stealthiness but are also known to be outstanding warriors.

DaggerFall Covenant:

Breton:

Bretons are a people from the mountainous terrain of High Rock and are descended from Altmer and Nedic (early human) stock. As a result, they have natural magic abilities combined with constitutions a bit stronger than the Altmer. Their quick grasp of magic makes them good spellcasters, healers and magic-based characters.

Orc:

Orcs, known as Corrupted Elves or Pariah Folk, are a native race to Tamriel. Historically nomads, they have formed a city called Orsinium in the Wrothgarian Mountain/Dragontail Mountain area of High Rock where equality is valued, making them the equivalent to sophisticated barbarians! Regarded as a tough and brutal race, they make some of the best and hardiest armored warriors.

Red Guard:

Redguards are the dark-skinned people who came from an island continent to the west of Tamriel and populated the region known as Hammerfell. Redguards are a physically powerful race in Tamriel. That, combined with their knowledge of all weapon and armor types, makes many Redguards great warriors or rogue (thief) characters.

Changes From The Regular TES Games:
-TES Online will be seen from a third person perspective, and skills will be activated from a hotbar.
-Fights will no longer be in real time.
-Presently, there are no plans to include a system that allows players to invest in property as they could in the single-player experience.
-Marriage and relationships will be confined to inter-player relations, rather than arrangements with NPC characters.
-Players will be unable to contract Vampire and Werewolf diseases, but there will be Vampires and Werewolves in the game.
-You will not be able to fast travel from any point of the map, but fast travel will still be available. Travel from wayshrine to wayshrine to get around Tamriel. Wayshrines will also be the places you come back to life after being killed.
-A new AI system will be used for all NPCs. Instead of everyone going to sleep at night, NPCs will not have the same schedules as older Elder Scrolls games. This was done to allow people to play on their own time.
-Public Dungeons will be returning to the MMO scene. These dungeons are not separated from the rest of the world. They're designed in a way to allow groups of players to team up and work through the caves or ruins.
-Mundus Stones will be set throughout the world, each with specific constellations and powers tied to them. Find one and activate it to tie the powers to your character.

Elder Scrolls Online Could be Announced in May.

An Elder Scrolls MMO could be announced as early as May according to a report on Toms Guide. An unnamed source has told them that Elder Scrolls Online is in the works, and will be set in the Second Era, hundreds of years prior to any of the Elder Scrolls games.

The source mentioned that the game will include three playable factions represented by a lion, a dragon and a bird of prey. Beyond that, details are scarce, but Zenimax Online Studios have been building an MMO for years. The Elder Scrolls certainly has the depth of lore to support a massively multiplayer world. This could be pretty special. If its real. Bethesda have issued a no comment. Would you play an Elder Scrolls MMO?

Elder Scrolls Online Announced! An MMO set in the world of Skyrim!

Written:
Elder Scrolls Online has just been announced, to the pretend shock of people who definitely didnt already know that was happening. Its being made by Zenimax Online Studios, the studio founded by Bethesdas parent company to develop massively multiplayer games. There have been a lot of rumours that Elder Scrolls Online was going to be their first game, but this is the first time weve heard anything concrete.

This will also be the first time the Elder Scrolls universe has been the setting for anything other than a singleplayer game. We know very little about it so far, though Game Informer have started to trickle out the details. So far theyve revealed that its set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm. The game will also include vast PvP conflicts between three factions, in which players will fight for the Emperors throne, as well as solo questing and public dungeons.

Most exciting: the first teaser trailer is due to hit tomorrow morning. Read on for a bit more mad speculation.

That still leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Will there be long queues to enter instanced oblivion gates? Will there be a crafting system that relies on every player stuffing hundreds of lettuces and calipers in their pockets? Theres bound to be more information in the coming weeks as everyone prepares for E3. And for now, we can stare at the image we made above and let our imaginations run wild.

If youre one of the many who arent yet done venturing through Skyrim though, try out our best Skyrim mods story.

Are you excited at the chance to play a Skyrim-style game with your friends, or would you rather venture through Bethesdas worlds on your own?

First Look at Elder Scrolls Online's Three Factions in new Trailer.
Published:June 5, 2012

Written:

Weve known a little bit about the three player factions in Elder Scrolls Online, but the new trailer released today shows them for the first time. Weve got the video inside, along with a brief recap of what we know about them so far.

Ebonheart Pact
Represented at 0:22 in the video(Go Down To Videos Part of Thread) by a Nord warrior, this faction also includes the Dunmer and Argonian species. The three groups were essentially forced to unite under a single banner to survive against invading forces. Their lands are easily the most recognizable to recent Elder Scrolls fans: they reside in Skyrim, Morrowind, and a bunch of poisonous swamplands youd be best off avoiding.
Aldmeri Dominion

The faction of choice for drug addicts, dangerous ego-maniacs, and furries alike shows up next as a high-elf Altmer wizard showcases some green sparkly magic at 0:30. The other two factions may just be happy surviving, but the Aldmeri Dominionmade up of the high elf Altmer, the cat-like Khajiit, and the wood elf Bosmers wants to conquer the world and rule over everything on it. Their mix of forests, rainforests, and jungles are also home to Moon Sugar and Skooma, the main drugs in Elder Scrolls games.
Daggerfall Covenant

The Bretons, Orcs, and Redguards have fought each other for centuries and have slowly learned to respect and like one another. Their deserts, hills, and grasslands are marked by relative peace and democratic rule. Theyre shown to be a bit on the shadowy side in the video, represented by a dark archer at 0:39. On a personal note, Ive decided that this is the most boring faction and will quietly judge anyone that picks it. It features not only one, but two different types of humans! But hey, if youre into escaping into a fantasy game just to play as the most boring character aroundby all means.

1,000 years, not 500. It actually takes place in the Second Era in the year 582. It even takes place like 700 years before the first Elder Scrolls game, Arena.

And Rouge, Warrior, and Mage? Maybe something more along the lines of Templars, DragonKnights, Assassins, etc. These aren't WoW classes, they're going along the same lines as all of their other games.
