I'm new to all this PC building stuff, but I think I have came up for a decent build for my budget is between 650-750. I have thought about doing some editing, but I have a laptop that has quite a bit of RAM on it so I thought about just sticking with it other than that let me know what you guys think and any input is appreciated.
Intel Core i3-3220 Processor
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7850 Graphics Card
Asus P8-H77-I Motherboard
8GB Samsung DDR3 1600MHz RAM
500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue Hard Drive
Bitfenix Prodigy Case
430W Corsair CX430 Power Supply
Molex Adapter (for second case fan)
All of this comes out to about $600 dollars, but like I said my budget would be about 650-750. Also would what setting would I be able to play say BF3, Skyrim, and games such as those on would High be out of reach?

Nice choices but I would suggest a stronger power supply I don't think it will be able to handle the card/ram/cpu very well

I'd say go up to 500W, just in case if you want to overclock anything.

I'd venture to say this is worse than the original $600 one posted, which is from this video:

The i3-3225 is more expensive than the 3220 only because it uses a higher-performance IGP, which is completely useless because there's a discrete GPU in this build. The Prodigy is simply a better case to have your PC in than the Z9 and since he's going to college, the small form factor is a godsend. The CX430 is more than enough power for everything here as well, even with overclocking.

Here's how I would change what you have: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You'll notice the case is red, but only because the white one is out of stock. I changed the PSU to the Antec VP-450 which is as good as, if not better than, the CX430 for less, but you can still get the CX430 if you want because it has sleeved cables. I used a cheaper motherboard that does the same thing, found a combo deal with the CPU and RAM to get some money off, and went with a cheaper 500GB HDD with a $10 code.

It's completely impossible that a 650w of any sort of quality would be inadequate to power a 560. More RAM will not yield higher performance unless it's being used, so 8 is more than enough for a gaming PC. This is a budget PC, and of course spending more on things like the CPU will increase performance. If he wanted to spend more, he could get more than the i3, but at the $600 price point it's perfect.

Same model with a common defect, I assume. Sapphire makes fine cards but they're not the only manufacturer to put out cards with recurring issues. You can't judge Sapphire based on what is actually one bad experience with a defective model. My friend went through four Asus P8P67s, but they all had a well-documented and recurring defect so they were all destined to fail. Of course, this doesn't mean Asus makes bad boards.
