My board supports upto 1333mhz RAM, however ive been offered an 8gb stick of ddr3 1600mhz by a friend for cheap, will this work at the lower speed no problems or could this raise issues? cheers greig.

If your motherboard only supports 1333 Mhz DDR3 RAM, and you put 1600 Mhz RAM in it, then your board will underclock it to it's maximum speed - however you will still be able to use it no problems.
