Need more help...

I have my Sapphire hd 7970 OC 3gb GPU all plugged in and set up. When I try to play a game I get terrible fps. In skyrim (on ultra), it won't go past 60 and drops to 30 consistently. And even in tf2 (again, everything maxed), my fps drops to 20-30. In Saints Row:3 it drops to 20-30 when i'm just walking around. I've tried installing the drivers (both off the disc and online), and NOTHING has worked! I'm totally lost on what to do... I posted a thread on sapphires forum but haven't gotten any results yet and I don't see a phone number to call them and ask them directly.

If anyone has advice to get the correct drivers, or to get the GPU to actually act like a GPU, please reply. Would there be anything wrong with the card physically? Will I have to RMA it?

Thanks in advance.

what kind of CPU are you using as well as the rest of your system spec's? bottle necks can occur out side of the GPU on occasion with gaming ;)

Oops, forget to mention my build.

i5 3570k
Cooler master 612 CPU cooler
Seasonic 650W
Corsair 8gb RAM (4x2)
asrock z77 extreme4
kingston 120gb SSD
WD 500gb HDD

I don't think there should be a bottleneck... A lot of the reviews for this card said how bad the drivers were ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ), and that's as far as i can get.

Try closing everything, and make sure you have the card plugged into the quicker PCI slot (I think there's a x16 and a x32 on that board, the x32 os obviously quicker)

If nothing, then you might have to wait until a better driver comes out, or swap it for either MSI or gigabyte.

Same problem with my 7970 lightning. Furthermore, my VRM is idling at 70 degrees and loads at 120.

If your GPU is sapphire, try using TRIXX. It's like afterburner but more stable. Any fix you found?

And no i haven't overclocked ANYTHING yet.

Someone on here recently had a similar issue, but we were able to get it sorted out. Have you had another card installed before the 7970? If so, you need to completely uninstall all graphics drivers and use [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

This is the first card I have installed. I've downloaded and installed the drivers so many times I lost count. I tried switching to VGA and it didn't do anything.

So lost on what to do

Same as GRWL, except I had cards before this, but I used a driver sweeper to clean everything, I also use DVI. Any BIOS specific settings we should have on/off? Any possible conflicts in CCC? Anything with Afterburner/Trixx? Anything you can do here would be much appreciated!
