Id like to hear everyones opinion about the gun control/reform thats being pushed through or at least trying to be pushed through. Obama is trying to ban all guns that are similar to the weapon used at Sandy Hook Elementary for the shooting such as AR-15's, Carbon 15's,AK47s, ACRs, and many more civilian model rifles such as those. The main reason being he believes that it will stop the violence. The problem is the fact that even IF he banned them, if someone was crazy enough or mental enough and wanted to do that badly enough they would get a gun however they could and they would still do it. All he is doing is losing support of alot of gunowners in America today. My opinion is that they should just tighten down the security when purchasing one and do a full background check of past medical/mental problem history and continue the background checks for past crime history. I would like to hear everybody elses opinion about this to see if its just me who feels this way, Thanks.

In my opinion it is too late for a gun reform in America. If it had been in place for 50+ years there would be no problem, but if you try to take them away now nobody is going t give them up. There will be a 'black market' for them. At this point I think it would be safer to give everyone a gun.

I think this is just one step into banning guns entirely. They are doing it little by little so people won't notice as quick what they are doing. Since America is is basicaly the most influential country in the world at the moment (always in everyone's business), then it's just very unsmart to take away the firearms of the civilians. This country then also can easily become a dictatorship. I'm not saying it will happen if guns are gone, but it becomes a bigger possibility and that is not good.

I think they should stop trying to ban guns and let people go on with their lives. Yeah people died in a shooting(not making fun or anything) because 1 person was unfit for society and not mentally stable to handle or even possess a gun. Just because 1 person screwed up doesn't mean every LEGAL gun owner should lose their guns. Yeah maybe they should up security on it because I know numerous people who have bought guns from a gun show without needing proof of gun license or anything. I've said this in another posts but obesity kills more people than guns do, so I guess they should start banning fatty foods and fast food restaurants but no it won't happen. I think this whole gun control crap is just a way to control people. Yes if someone wanted a gun so badly they would get from black markets. Now look at this, the US government has purchased over 750 million hollow point rounds in the past 3 years. Now tell me what the hell do they need all those rounds for, I guarantee that none or only a little went to the army/military. Another thing is we have a bunch of foreign UN troops living in the US who would more and likely gladly come and try and take our guns.

This whole gun reform absurd. They are releasing a site which produces everyone that owns a gun in the U.S. 9/11 took thousands of lives, what are we going to do ban planes?

Ok, everybody can agree Obama is a tard for even attempting this. I have an AR-15, and there's no way in hell he can stop me from going hunting, to the shooting range, or even defending my home with it. If a punk comes into my home without my permission, I have the right to shoot him/her. Not saying I would, and not saying I need an AR to do the job, but I feel safe sleeping at night when it's in my home. I'm not a phsycho, I am not going to shoot anybody unless I am saving my self and/or others. I have had no problems with mental issues or crime issues, therefore I belive I am with the 97% of sane gun owners.
The BG checks is really what they need. Heck, you can go to a gun show and buy a gun with no check (I bought an M1A1 Carbine I had bought with no check, which was in poor condition so I had to trade it into a gun shop haha). But also, this kid stole his mothers weapon, so it wasn't like he even owned it. Just goes to show banning the sales won't matter, there's always a way to get what you want, for the right price.

Gun crimes have actually been going down 20% in the past years. They just want no guns. There was a shooting a week ago. A man shot his ex - girlfriend in the theater and then was about to unload his clip but luckily an off duty police officer was there and shot him. This news was never released to MAINSTREAM News. Also, before purchasing a gun they legally have to give you a background check then you have to wait about a week to 11 dayss and then you can pick it up. Don't want to brag about owning a firearm but that is how it is in Los Angeles, California

Exactly you also have to be 21 to purchase a handgun in California don't know if that is a nation wide thing. Also on most California guns you need to have a small tool to unload the clip you can't press a button and it drops out. Only on certain pistols have clip release button that doesn't need a tool. I think the reason they didn't release the news to mainstream because it won't cause as much hype or make people go against guns like the Colorado theater shooting did or the Connecticut shooting. They should make security a little higher for purchasing a gun like make you go to the doctor and take a physiologic test done instead of just the background check which checks prison records, felonies, and also if you have any recorded mental illness, So basically if you were messed up in the head but never had a record of it and never had jail time or any felonies you could get a gun license. They should also make it were you need to show proof of a gun license at gun shows because like I said before I know plenty of people who have walked into a gun show bought a gun there with no proof of gun license and walked out. Some of the guns weren't even California legal ( full auto and high cap clips, like 30 rounds)
