The Ranking System

My friend is the highest rank at the moment which leads me to believe that rank has everything to do with your round average.
Kills - 13,667
Bullets Fired - 97,442
Downs - 248
Revives - 170
Grenade Kills - 203
Headshots - 3,666
Deaths - 77
Gibs - 13,525
Perks Drank - 241
Doors - 48
Hits - 90,372
Traveled Miles - 287
His stats are pretty woeful but he only ever plays with me and my friends and usually gets above 30 rounds most games. I play solo a lot and play with randoms which I'm assuming effects my chances of achieving maximum rank.
I think this will clear up a few theories stating that K/D matters. I'm not sure if you can check his stats yourself but his gamertag is 'Senshoku'.

The ranking system is awful i got to the highest level (Shotguns beside head with spike surrounding boarder) and didn't play for 1 week and got de-ranked 5 levels?

are you sure he didnt do the rank glitch?
i just checked and his kills to downs is 55, mine is 66 and i only have the skull

I've ruined my chances...
I have 500 downs because I was messing about in a lot of zombies games (grief) and didn't know (I got most of the downs when I first got the game not knowing that it will greatly lower my chances of ranking up)
AND I have more kills, headshots, perks drank, doors opened, bullets fired, hits and grenade kills but just because I have had more downs and deaths I wont get highest rank in a very very very very very very long time

Yeah I'm sure. We don't play with anyone else that is highest rank.
I wish Treyarch would just explain the ranking system, its really annoying.

I got to round 30 like 6 or 7 times already and i never get ranked up! I play public as well and still nothing.
I had skull with blue eyes, I played every day then one day i decide not to play i get Deranked to no blue eyes.
My Stats:

I don't play enough to rank up past the skull and knife, but I think it is an average of some of the more important stats.
