Alright, so after using various Windows PCs, both desktop and laptop, for around 10 years, I've finally purchased my first Apple computer.

I've been using my Macbook for around a 10 hours now, and I'm pretty impressed actually. Web-browsing, multi-tasking, working/business, all works absolutely great.

I work from home full-time, so having a reliable PC to be able to work on is very important for me. I must say with the Macbook, thus far, has met all of my standards and more. It's absolutely beautiful and flawless to use.

Plus sides from personal experience:

Flawless Multi-Tasking:

My Macbook can easily run most, if not ALL programs on the actual platform without fail. I did a speed test actually; I opened up all Applications pre-installed (iMovie, Photobooth, Emails, and all of that cool stuff) and I have no complaints. Definitely 10/10!

Simplicity:

Everything is so simple, yet conducted to perfection. I can't really say much more than that. Everything is so straight forward, sometimes it's too straight forward for me personally, as a past Windows OS user.

Super fast startup:

It's literally a case of opening the lid, hitting the on button, and it's on. Instantly. Once it has started up, you see the beautiful dock/background, and it's a case of 'here's the computer, it's yours'. Everything is just there for you. Wow, it's truly beautiful.

Work/Business

This is by far thee best computer for my industry (YouTube Networking). I couldn't think of anything which needs to be worked on. This does absolutely everything I need it to, flawlessly. I work with documents, Google Docs, Skype, and a lot of them. I'd have to run multiple Google Docs/Skype Chats at once, not to mention being held in TeamSpeak 3 for meetings throughout the day. I cannot complain, it is a pleasure to work whilst using a Mac!

Overall:

10/10 - I'm impressed. Obviously it's a very big switch, and there are things I am yet to discover.

I do not hate Windows, and I will still probably buy a Windows PC! Infact, I'm looking to buy parts for a Gaming PC custom build as we speak, so I can complete my setup of the following:

- x1 Media PC running Windows OS (Acer Predator G5900-1: Originally a gaming PC but I don't game on it): Done
- x1 Macbook Pro 13" i7 for work/personal on the go use laptop: Done
- x1 Gaming PC custom build: Work in Progress

Do you have any personal experiences/thoughts you with to share with your Mac and/or switch you made?

Anything is appreciated.

Thanks!

Why, though? Give me a little more detailed explanation instead of just "I prefer windows".

Replies like that are pointless. It teaches nobody nothing.

Yeah, I getcha'. I'm also a pretty big gamer on the PC actually, although I use my desktop for that. I only reallyt use my MacBook Pro for work/on the go, or whether I want to just chill on the sofa and watch a movie or whatever, although with my desktop, I can't do that. So I'd only use my desktop to game, and my MacBook for anything else.

The reason you can go superb multi-tasking performance is due to the solid state drive. It is not native to Apple although they seem to be using it in the majority of their Macbooks which is a great idea. Technically speaking, you can get the same multi-tasking performance out of a Windows Ultrabook.

I agree with the simplicity part - hardware and software combined. There's no doubting that the Macbook line up is definitely the best looking and most straight forward in my and millions of others peoples opinions. Apple operating systems have always been straight forward and more of a platform that anyone can pick up and learn almost instantly which can be a good or a bad thing depending on your point of view. There's no doubting that OSX + iOS does limit you in terms of customization. Though I'll give Apple one thing, none of their machines have bloat-ware compared to pre-built Windows computers as a whole - you can argue it can be removed but it should not be on the machine in the first place since it only takes up more space, real-estate, and processes.

Super fast start up and responsiveness is due to the super fast SSD. Generally speaking, a half decent SSD is going to get around 3-4 x the performance of a generic hard drive that are found in most Windows computers and even some of the older line Macbooks. I'm glad to see Apple going towards flash memory since it's better for everybody.

I'm not trying to say it's not a 10/10 laptop, but personally I'd give it at least a month whilst continuing using the laptop to give it more of a fair rating.

I personally do not have a Macbook, mainly due to financial reasons and if it's really worth it. I've had experiences with them though and owned an iPhone at one point. In my mind, Macbooks are the only good all around laptops that are balanced. You can make the argument that an X230 is a fantastic laptop - in which it is, but it's not flawless nor prestigious. There is no other mainstream laptop in existence that has a super high resolution IPS panel, SSD, phenomenal track-pad, respectable battery life, and is aesthetically pleasing. The only thing it does not have is the ability to upgrade it manually, but what Ultrabook has that feature now a days? Zip! My next laptop is more than likely going to be a Macbook if Windows manufacturers don't step up their game. There is no excuse for not having 1920 x 1080 IPS displays as a standard considering the technology has been there for decades. Even then, they somehow manage to screw up something. Everything from the Asus Ultrabooks having a sub par track pad with horrible back-light bleeding, a Nexus 7 bezel literally peeling off or a Nexus 10 with outrageous thick and annoying bezels that are a huge turn off to the mass majority. I hate using this term, but Apple laptops, phones, and tablets simply just work. I despise iOS but I'd rather have an iPhone that feels of quality and is not entirely made of plastic than an S3 running Android.

Enjoy the new computer.

I always said, a Mac is for the simple man. Easy to use, and is hella nice eye candy. Not gonna lie, I would buy a MBP if I had cash lying around. Thing is, it just doesn't fit my purposes like most Windows devices. I'll be getting the Surface Pro after trying one with RT at a Microsoft store. I have used Macbooks of all sorts and they are good computers, there's no reason not to buy one if you have the money and need something for school/work etc.

Like Generation said, an SSD can make all of the difference. Multitasking will be much snappier with an SSD, so grab yourself an X230 or Macbook air with an SSD and you'll be set.

Strictly speaking in terms of working, I would only use a Mac Book or iMac for work.

Otherwise I'd use a PC if I was doing anything except work. Which would pretty much be gaming but I do not game on a computer.

I bought my MBP in the summer, I'm a PC gamer too.

I mainly use it for on the go, Skype and browsing for when I'm gaming, and just when I'm too lazy to get up.

The OS is astonishing also the looks of the machine.

Worth the money.
