People have bigger power supplies than they need because they may need the headroom to overclock or they might SLI or crossfire their GPU's or you may add new hardrives or SSD's.

That is what it will need to run efficiently. So if you add like 50 or 100 mor you will be able to beyond the average usage the components need with out strain on the power. Also it is better if you want to game and ever upgrade to newer component. It shouldn't run too much more.

500 watts is plenty for that system, even overclocked. The testing here was even done on a more power-hungry system.

I recommend 550w PSUs for 660 Ti builds pretty often and if I can, I go for 650w unit with four PCI-E connectors to support SLI. If you'll be heavily overclocking the cards in SLI, I'd recommend 750w just because.

If you're looking for a 550-750w unit, the Rosewill Hive is consistently the best PSU line for the money.
