Never thought I'd ever see so much bad suggestions combined into one thread until I clicked on this.

go to ibuypower.com, there you can customize your own laptop to your financial needs and it also tells you how good your computer will run for whatever game you specify. If you don't want to do that i would reccommend getting an HP Envy..

avoid this, and this whole thread. Get a PC not a laptop. I suggest build it yourself if you do so and talk go to Forums/t=3809045/the-custom-pc-topic.html they know what their talking about or get a suggestion for a gaming PC.

Look at a HP Envy 15 or 17 Series. They are about in the range you are looking for and they come with great graphics cards and they also come with a beats-audio slider in case you want that.

Beats Audio is a useless crapware gimmick. If anything, it deteriorates sound quality. If manufacturers wanted to improve sound quality in the machines they ship, they'd use a higher-quality DAC and OP amp, not a crappy overblown software equalizer that artificially buffs the low and high end.

Don't ever listen to these Chinese people, NEVER EVER EVER buy an Alienware its a Dell with a fancy name on it. My dell sucks, dell as company sucks so just build your own and you can max out games like Skyrim,Mw3,Bf3 (Maybe but chances are higher when you spend $1200)

All responses are either about Chinese, Alienware or get a desktop -.-

He asked for a LAPTOP people, not building a PC...

Don't even think about Alienware, I customized an M17X and once the specs were good it was over $2000. I then looked around and found the ASUS G73JW which has BETTER SPECS and was only around $1400.

They now have newer laptops like the G75 which might only be for preorder though.
Next up they have the G74 which you can find here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It's still a bit over your price but it's an amazing laptop.

Yes...but the problem with that gaming laptops are not portable nor worth the money. It will be a 17.3'' semi-portable desktop that will be plugged into a socket more times than not. You can build a PC for $600 which has more of a wider upgrade path and great performance for the dollar and then buy a basic laptop like some low-end and low-power AMD A6 that will actually have decent battery life and not be so bulky. You will have the best of both worlds.
