Well, like yourself a lot of people tend to shoot 'in front' of them, and generally in the direction of the chest. When someone drops down, that player isn't used to it. So that strategy that they are used to is no longer counted in that moment. The main purpose of drop shotting is the allow the player dropping to not be knifed, or shot close range.

I agree it's very annoying, however I do partake in that. It's an awesome strategy to keep that kill streak going a little longer! ....If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Dropshots originated from MLG games and professional gamers. These were seen by younger players and less publicitized players who re create thus action. The easiest way to dropshot is to either play claw or play tactical stick configuration. The whole point to dropshotting is to confuse the opposition and the result in this is to make their aiming worse therefore not killed (as you said). I see dropshotting as a skill and if you can learn it ,do, it makes your play a lot better.
