Seems you didn't get the memo. Don't post builds unless you're listed in the topic. I don't know why this is suddenly a problem as it never really has been.

I did not initially respond because he omitted the when section of the form. It's his fault he was missed; note the downvotes.

Didn't read the topic? And you posted? Mother of god.

It doesn't matter if you don't see why it's such a problem. It's not saving me time as one of us will still do the build anyway.

We use downvotes to indicate whether the form was completed properly or not. You'd know that if you read the topic.

The thread title is pretty self explanatory so I didn't feel the need to read it.

It seems the builds you post is mimicked by the other posters, who infact know little to nothing about computers judging from previous posts.

Yeah I suppose it is my bad for posting without reading OP, but drop the d*ckish attitude, you'll get further in life.

****PC Build Request Form****
Laptop or Tower only is preferred

Budget & Currency: 500 to 750 USD

Peripherals & Monitor: Don't need a monitor, I'd be using my TV. If the recommendation is a laptop, a 16 or 17 inch screen would be cool.

Games: n/a. minecraft maybe at most

Software: After effects, sony vegas, recording programs, word processing

Aesthetics: as much RAM as possible within my budget. I am so sick of my current laptop crashing so much

Rebates/Promos: that'd be cool...

Details: I'd prefer a laptop, so I could take it to college in September. I wouldn't mind a tower but they're kinda clunky imo.

When: Whenever. I've got some money saved up, but I'm terribly skeptical of big purchases. so.

I'd honestly rather buy it through a manufacturer or store, since I know very little about how these things work honestly. I just want something that won't fail me and can last through college

Yeah I suppose it is my bad for posting without reading OP.

The similarities are because we recommend the best hardware for the money. I've evaluated and approved the people I listed in the topic as knowledgeable and able to produce un-criticizable results of their own accord. I have lofty standards and as a result I ask for those that are not approved not to post in this topic. I don't care how I come across here as it's in the best interest of people getting advice. I'm not here for people to love me or hugbox.

I ignored the arrogant statement in your post and removed it from my quote. If you're going to attack me personally PM me as it's otherwise spam.

At the end of the day, the only arrogance is here is coming from you. It's a thread on a tech website, come down off your throne and take criticism. For some kind of respected member of this website, your attitude absolutely stinks. This is the last I will post. Im finished.

Easy to say it stinks in your position, I'd say. My "attitude" is conducive to people getting consistent and good advice, not making them like me.

I'm not sure what you're referreing to by a "throne." I made this topic with the sole purpose of creating a place that people can get advice from those who know what they're talking about. Having others post defeats the purpose entirely and undermines my standards. There's a reason we don't use PCPartPicker as well. I welcome criticism and you have not provided any. However, thank you for being fairly reasonable.

I removed the laptop request portion of this topic because my philosophies on laptops are far removed from the mainstream. Basically I've realized that there's so much more than just specs to take into consideration and actual user experience is the only thing that should be considered. As a result, I'll almost invariably recommend Lenovo Thinkpads, which I've found offer the best experience for the price. It's not fanboyism, it's just me trying to recommend the best product possible. I've yet to find any line that comes close in terms of build quality, longevity, battery life, keyboard quality, customization, display quality, software, support, reliability, noise, heat management, and durability. However, they're not made to be pretty and you will pay a premium, which will result in less impressive specs for the price. At the end of the day, the Thinkpad will provide a better experience than its similarly price competitors although it will have lower-end specs. $690 will land you a base model T430 right now, but whether this is the recommendation you want to hear is up to you. If it's not, I'm not able to help you.

I know I come across as elitist. Another reason I stopped recommending laptops.
