Sugar Cane -

can be found on grass, dirt, and sand as long as it is adjacent to water on at least one side (generally on the seas edge or lake edge). Sugar cane may grow to a maximum height of four blocks but tends to be three

used to produce sugar and paper

1 block for sugar 3 for paper

Wheat -

seeds found by hacking tall grass, used for cake, cookies and bread. walking on it may trample the land however crouching doesnt. to plant seeds you need to till the ground with a h o e (LT) best to grow in straight lines (image below shows)

Pros & Cons

Pros -

farming wheat makes valuable resources such as bread cakes and cookies which replenish health after an attack from the mob, farming sugar cane for paper is a must have for books and maps... books can later be used in the making of bookshelves and a book and quill these are decorative items

Cons -

Time consuming, generally need a large flat area and water

How do you plant the Sugar Cane? I can't seem to figure it out. Do you use sugar or is there some kind of seed?

infacted both of them are bad the best ways are F=farmland
W = water

FFFFFFFFF
FFFFFFFFF
FFFFFFFFF
FFFFFFFFF
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFFFFFF
FFFFFFFFF
FFFFFFFFF
FFFFFFFFF

Or if you have an auto harvester
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFWFFFF
FFFFWFFFF

And so on for how far your auto-harvester works for

Reasons why there both bad
'bad'
36 block area 24 farmland 6 water. can be done with 1 water but the bad one is the better of your 2 and you labelled it the bad one why?

'good'
21 block area 14 farmland 7 water. only way this can be better is if you have a auto-harvester but the 'bad' one is still better because the same auto-harvester would work for them both.

either way both designs are wasting space and water.

Also the picutre you have showing for the sugar cane farm is from the pc so why are you showing us this for a xbox also sugar cane can not YET be found on sand. seems like to me someone had just pull information out of their and copy and pasted a-load of images.
