This is a quick tut of how to recover from a bad nand, christmas lights, or any other flash problem. This will work as long as your xell can boot up.

Couple of things you need: These programs, a blank cd, an ethernet cord; to connect your jtag to your router or modem, a power brick (duh), avg cable (hdmi cable wont work) and cpu number, your origanal nand.

1. You will need some of these programs
a. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (winscp)

b. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . (putty, but if this link doesnt work then you can just go to google.com and search putty then download it.(Should say "PuTTY: putty.exe and it should be under "For Windows on Intel x86")

c. tech-mods.com/tom/files (Debian Live CD)
*After you extract or unzip Debian live cd, there should be a folder and another .rar or .zip folder. DONT UNZIP THAT FILE*

d. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . (jtag tools, but if this link doesnt work then go to google, and goole jtag tools.)

* Need to extract everything that have to be extract or unzip if its in .rar, or .zip.
* Once all is download please go to step 2

2. Go to a type of img cd burner (i use imgburn)

a. Click "Write file to disc" or something like that

b. Now click open and search for the debian file that have the .rar, or .zip file

c. Once you found it, then burn that file onto the cd.
* Must have blank cd, dvd wont work*

3. Once you have burned the file onto your cd, make sure you have your jtag connected to the ethernet cord which is connected to your modem or router. This is how you connect to the internet. Also, do not use your hmdi cable, it wont show up, so use your regular cord ( believe it called avg cable)

a. Start up xell, clicking the eject button

b. Wait until it says "device 1: verndor 0000 product 0000 etc...
and somethin like "connected to bus 1 hub 1 port 5" and optimacal media is not present"
c. Then you want to put in the cd that contains the debian live cd that you just burn into the jtag
d. Then let it load and it should take a few minutes, but if you doing it right then some penguins (black screen with some codes) should come up and then after some time they should disapper. They shoule be some more codes then you will recieve a screen thats colorful and should have an ip adress in there.
e. now keep the jtag running and do not turn it off

* Sometimes it will say error and the penguins should be on the top of the screen for years. So if this happens and your screen is sayig error over and over again, then go back to the begin of step 3, if its happening over and over again, then go back to step 2. Now if it isnt working at all, then aim me at cyimking or pm me.*

*Only go to step 4 if there is a colorful screen, and it says a ip adress, the root/ password, login, "FREE60 DEBIAN LENNY LIVE CD," *

4. Now once there is an ip adress then go back onto your commputer.

a. Open up Jtag tool

b. Click "usb" for device type

c. Click your jtag console type

d. Type in your cpu number

e. Type " create bin."

f. Find your original nand. (a black box should come up, and then you just click a button, and then a button, until it says save file)
g. Save file name " freeboot.bin"
*Once file is save then you should have your freeboot.bin on your computer, once you have that then go to step 5*

5. Open up winscp

a. For the Host name, type in the IP adress that you found from the the jtag

b. Type root for the username, and type xbox 360 for the password

c. Change the file protocol to FTP

d. Then login...

e. Once you log in then click images and drap the freeboot.bin file onto the images folder.
f. Then a prompt should come up, to say copy or soemthing like that.

g. Once the freeboot.bin is copy onto the images folder then go to step 6.

6. Open up putty

a. Type the IP adress that you see from the jtag onto the host name

b. Then click open

c. To login in type in root for login name, and xbox360 for password

d. Now you should have the same screen as you do on the jtag

*So once you had login in onto putty and have the same screen as you do as the jtag, and have the freeboot.bin file copy into the image folder for winscp. Then go to step 7*

7. Now type this in for putty: xbrflash -w freeboot.bin

a. You must type that in onto putty, because if you do not then you can mess up your jtag badly.
b. Once you have that xbrflash -w freeboot.bin type in putty, then click enter

c. A bunch of stuff should be happening now

d. Once its finish then there should be a face. (Might take a minute or 2)

8. Once you had recieved the face to indacate that you did it right then go back onto your jtag. (it should be still on)

a. Now unplug your power brick from your xbox (dont turn off your xbox, just unplug the power brick so it just shut off the jtag)
b. Now wait 30 seconds

c. Now plug up your power brick back up to your jtag, and turn on your xbox

d. Then there you go, you had successfully recovered from a bad nand and or christmas lights

If you run into any problems or is confused then pm me or aim me at cyimking. If you did this and it works please thank me, and hopefully this get stickied.

*DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK!, IM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG AND MESSED UP YOUR JTAG*
