Time as we think of it is a man-made construction. In terms of the universe, there is no such thing as seconds, minutes, hours etc.. We have created, what we call, time to simplify things, and give life more structure. However, the concept of time from a physicists point of view is extremely abstract, and no one truly knows what time really is, and why we experience time. Time is a difficult subject to explain even by the greatest of physicists. However, I do not believe calling time an "illusion" is the best way to describe it, however I understand where your coming from.
