Hey Guys.
Need help setting up a piece of recording equipment for xbox 360? Not anymore!

HD PVR

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Although this is an excellent device, it does have a few drawbacks if you're not prepared. Please read below for details.

1) You need AT LEAST a dual core PC with AT LEAST 1 gig of RAM. The same goes for laptops! (Yes this does work with Macs now. BUT you'll need a program called eyeTV 3.1 to capture the video as the archsoft capture software is not compatible with Mac

2) You need AT LEAST a 256 meg Video Card. I recommend a 512 or higher. I run a 1 gig video card, and I still experience some lag when editing...

3) You NEED HD video editing software that will recognize the M2TS files produced by the Hauppauge. (I use Sony Vegas Pro 9.0c, but Pinnacle Studio and Corel Video Studio work as well.)

If you have all the above, video capturing should be easy as pie, and you'll have stunning HD quality videos on YouTube in no time!

Please email me at Dalemcelroy1 @ hotmail.co.uk if you have any questions. I answer them all, ask anyone who has contacted me.

How to Connect Up your HD PVR:

Here are the things you will need to connect:

Xbox 360 Composite AV Cable:

3 AV Splitters

Pinnacle instant DVD Recorder

Ok Lets get Started.

1. So after you have bought all the components you are going to want to your dazzle up as quickly as possible aren't you ?, well first of all you are going to collect your 3 audio/video splitters are place 1 into the red, yellow and white holes on the front of your dazzle, it should look something like this:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

2. Step two is that you are going to slot your: red, yellow and white cables from your xbox 360 console into the corresponding slots on the dazzle so this means that the, red cable goes into either slot on the splitter which was placed in the red slot on the dazzle, do this again with the other two cables and it should look like this:

3. The next step is to set up the phono to RCA cable with you "Dazzle" and Xbox 360", first of all you will need to use one end of the cable with you dazzle, this means placing the yellow, white and red cable heads into the corresponding splitter holes, this should be easy now as you already have the xbox cables in there so you can just look at the colour of those, it should now look like this:

4. Now that you have done the above step you will now need to do same with you T.V, you will of pulled out the "Xbox 360" cables out of these holes and again they are: red, yellow and white. They should be on the side of underneath you Television, they are underneath mine. Once you have located these holes simply place the other end of your "Phono to RCA" cable into these holes, it should look something like this (Depending on your T.V):

5. So your Dazzle is all connected up now, you will want to install your "Recording Software" this should take around 5-10 minutes and once complete you should have a symbol on your desktop called "Pinnacle Studios" or "Dazzle Instant DvD recorder". The "Instant DvD Recorder" should look like this once opened:

6. Once you have your "Dazzle" set up and the software installed you are going to want to start recording your game-play, so you will now have to plug your "Dazzle" into 1 of your USB ports on your computer it should look like this now:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Oh and when the dazzle has a green light on it, it means its ready to be used.

7. Once this has been done you should now be waiting to turn your "Xbox 360" on but you have to realise the "Dazzle" will not record in HD, so you will have to flip your switch from HD to TV, this is a little switch on the back of your "Xbox". It will look like this and should be flipped to TV that's if you are playing HD:

Heres a better Picture if your confused:

8. Once you have powered up your "Xbox 360" as well as your chosen recording software you might notice that it's in black and white and think "Crap", it should naturally look something like this:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

But this problem is solved by downloading a program called "amcap" simply google the program and download the first link which appears, or if this doesn't work try the third link as that is what I had to do, once this is done you should receive colour, but it it doesn't do it straight away follow these steps:

Open up "Amcap" if you get an error message ignore it, it's natural.
Then go to Options, and scroll down to "Video Capture Filter"
After this make sure you are on "Video Decoder" tab.
Then click the box which should say "NTSC_M"
You need to change this to "Secam_B".
You need to do this every-time your capture box goes black and white, as this is the problem that it's gone back to "NTSC_M"

It should know look like this:

9. Once this has been done you are ready to record, so once you load up your chosen game, lets say "Call of Duty 4" you should be able to press record, make sure you are saving the file, in a folder named something like "Capture Card Video's". Once you have recorded you first game, an easy way to get it onto to "Youtube" is to use "Windows Live Movie Maker", just click the "Drag media here" button and click your chosen video, it should look like this:

10. You will then want to "trim" the beggining of the video where it is black and white, so this is where you click the "edit" button, then click the "trim tool" and trim the start of the video or until it comes into colour and then click "Save Trim" and your done, colour video:

11. So step 11 is easy, click back to "home" once you have edited your video to you liking, then click the button on the top left which has the "Youtube" logo, once clicked it will talk you through step in order to upload your video, simple !
