can someone please tell me what an iso is and what it actually does, i know it lets you play modded zombies online but thats about it

An ISO image file is a certain kind of file that has many different files that are archived within it.
ISOs basically let you play the game.
To mod Nazi Zombies, you basically take out some of those archived files and replace them with the modded ones.
Or you could just modify it yourself.

If by online you mean with friends and with a party, then no.
However, there are mods for Nazi Zombies which allow you to play solo (still connected to XBL)
To play a modded Nazi Zombies online with friends and a party, you would have to have a modded ISO of it and then play it with a flashed 360. Alternatively, you can hotswap it.
Look on YouTube for an example of hotswapping.

An IMG File that can be put into Imgburn to make a modded disc
