I need help setting up a cracked server for me and a few friends to play on because single player fails to keep our attention.
Not buying the full game, because we're cheap like that.
Also if anyone knows how to install plug ins, texture packs, and all that jazz to the server that would be awesome.
Will plus rep 100 for completely answering all questions in an easy to understand tut.

Sorry but as far as i know hamachi is the only way.
Step 1. Download 'Log Me in Hamachi'
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Step 2. Download 'Minecraft_server.exe' (or the mac version)
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
(go down to 'Multiplayer beta server software' to download)
Step 3. Make a folder called 'minecraft server' and drag both those files in.
Step 4. Run 'Minecraft_server' untill it says 'done' then CLOSE it
Step 5. in the folder you ran this in you should have a file called 'Server properties'
Open it in notepad.
Step 6. Change 'Online-mode' to false, change player numbers to your player numbers
Add in at the bottom 'verify-names=false'
save it. (DO NOT PUT IN YOUR IP)
Step 7. Run log me in hamachi and make a network.
Step 8. Run 'Minecraft_server' again and thats your server set up.
NOTE : your friends must have hamachi and must connect to that network, in minecraft they enter the IP that hamachi says.
