Hey TTG. I want to learn how to snowboard this year and here in Michigan, we get TONS of snow. I hear snowboarding is hard at 1st but once you get the hang of it it gets easier. A bunch of my friends snowboard and I want to learn... so yea... is it easy? I've snowboarded before just not like... with an actual board and stuff. By snowboarding I mean like using $500 boards and bindings and special boots or whatever. No, I'm not going to get a $500 board if I do decide to learn.

I recommend to get the best out of it, and for safety sake you should ALWAYS get lessons. Only a couple if needs be, but just to get you started. If you have never stepped onto a snowboard in your life, it can look like it's difficult to control and goes really, really fast.

Truth is, it's pretty easy to control once you get the hang of it. Much easier than you might think. With the edge of the board jammed into the snow, believe me it won't go anywhere unless you are on an incredibly steep slope.

But as a beginner snowboarder, you won't be going anywhere near that kind of slope. So relax. You'll be fine.

Yes, a board can go fast, if the rider wants it to. The first lessons you will learn, though, as a beginner is to make your snowboard go slow. You won't be pointing it nose (or tail) first down the slope. You'll be side on, and will be able to travel short distances at slow speeds... and then stop.

Good luck and go for it man!

If you take lessons it is easy to learn, once you get the basic's figured out. Your ARMS will be sore after the first day from picking yourself up all day
