Upgrading PC Help

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my PC that I built myself just over a year ago. Reason being I've been having some problems such as disk usage shooting up to 100% causing lag when playing certain games. But my question is, what should I upgrade for better gaming performance?
SPECS:
Intel i5 4460 Processor
Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Motherboard
(Can't Remember sorry) 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3
WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive - Caviar Blue
GeForce GTX 960 Video Card
Some Cheap Poop Case
EVGA 500B 500W 80+ Bronze PC Power Supply
TOTAL: Roughly £500 (At the time)
What upgrades do you think?

Depends. We can't recommend anything without a budget. We also need to know what you're looking to achieve with an upgrade. You should definitely add an SSD though.

I'd agree with 13... Need a budget to even look into it. And which games in particular do you experience this in?
Best added performance per dollar in your case (no pun intended) would be a SSD.
If you're poor, even a small one for your OS and HDD for your games but larger capacities have better value.

Don't really have a budget to be honest, just don't want it to be super expensive. I know it still doesn't help lol. I'll definitely look into getting an SSD as a friend told me this could help.

Don't particularly have a budget which I know doesn't help lol. I'll definately look into getting an SSD. The games I experience this in is Conan Exiles, Rust and occasionally Overwatch.

I only have a cheap £500 PC so I don't want the components to exceed each other that much without having to buy a whole new system..

We need at least some sort of rough budget to work with. If you want better performance in your games, upgrade GPU. Other than that, add an SSD and upgrade case and PSU. Maybe add another 8GB RAM if you want.
