If I buy a 144hz monitor at somewhere like Best Buy, would it come with the display port cable? Or would I have to buy one separate?

I asked my friend that works as Best Buy and he has no idea

If it doesn't say it's included, most likely won't be included.
You can get a cheap one off eBay or Amazon or the store homie.

Depends on the specific monitor. Package contents is up to the manufacturer, not the seller so where you buy from won't make a difference. Look for an unboxing on YouTube of the specific monitor you're looking at and see what's in the box. Most monitors will include the necessary display cable to pair with it though, so I can't imagine something wouldn't be included.

Quality monitors will always come with a DVI dual link or displayport cable. I know BenQ ships with DVI dual link cables at least. It should list the contents somewhere on the box though, I think its a requirement.
And your friend sounds like a typical best buy employee
