I currently live in Ireland and dont know much about the US but can someone tell me when we will know who has won the election ?

We'll know a majority of the poll results by tomorrow morning. But remember, just because one candidate has more votes doesn't mean they win the presidency. It still comes down to the electoral college.

While this is true, the loser of the popular vote only won the election 4 times in the past.
