Two men have been charged with offences under the Gambling Act in what is believed to be the first prosecution involving betting on video games.
Dylan Rigby(FutGalaxy) and Craig Douglas(Nep), who are both from Essex, are charged with promoting a lottery and advertising unlawful gambling.
Mr Douglas is also charged with inviting children to gamble.
The Gambling Commission, which brought the prosecution, has been looking into the rise of video game gambling.
It is warning parents that children can be drawn into betting on so-called skins - virtual goods such as weapons or clothes that are a feature of many popular games.
It has been estimated that the global market in betting on video games is worth as much as £4bn.
The two men appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Friday. The case has been adjourned until 14 October.

Hope they do time or lose alot of money. imagine how many kids signed up to that website. Losing thier parents money on a game where you get nothing in return. I mean i aint gonna lie, ive spent so much money on Fifa that it got to a point where where i wasnt even looking at my bank account and i just kept saying "one more pack". In the end EA make a game where slow players catch up to ronaldo and messi its unbelievable. Thats why im not spending an extra buck except for the $60 for the game.
