I know what your own about it happened when me and my brother tried to play together, It's called Host drag or sometimes called different terms. You can turn it off in the settings and make it so it doesnt pull you back. Also can I join in , It's christmas day and not tired yet ;) , If so message me xKryzaaH

It would be more helpful if you told us what type of server it is. Is it a dedicated or non-dedicated server?

If it is a non-dedicated server, there is no way you can turn it off. It is referred to as host tether, officially. It is in place because the Xbox can not handle the rendering of two or more players simultaneously while rendering it for the host as well. WildCard Studios has said that they plan on increasing the distance of this after optimization, however it will still remain. (Even the PC has it)
