Depends on whether or not you've already downloaded and ran the program or you're still deciding. You could always open it up in sandboxie and see if it's a dummy exe. Sandboxie is a program that isolates anything you open in it, kinda of like a VM but on a smaller scale. If it actually opens, it'll show you what processes it's running and what it does on executing the file. If it's harmful, you can just close sandboxie and delete the offending program off of your PC.

if it looks suspicious, dont download it. You can download anti virus software though

Yeah defiantly get Malware bites, my friend previously made a rat and the only AV that could detect it was Malware bites.

just never click on a link that a random person that you don't know gave you......
especially for the link's that you get via Mediafire and skype , just don' t click on them
only if you trust the person who gave you the link .

Put mouse traps with cheese around your house and just wait a week or so, you'll know if it's a rat or not

You could always download the file without Installing it and scan it with virustotal.com, thats what
I usually do when Im not confident with a selected file.
