So a few days ago I was trying to update to windows 10 and I kept getting errors. One of the suggested solutions was to unplug all USB devises and extra internal hard drives. I did that and the update worked so I plugged everything back together but the hard drive was not showing. After double checking the cables I checked device management and disk management and it was not appearing. Because I am paranoid when opening up my PC, during all of this I was static free and only was touching cables. There are also no drivers to update because it says it is auto installed in the OS. It is a Western Digital hard drive (WD1002FBYS) and [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is my PC part list.

I am just confused to why it is not working, all I did was unplug it and plug it back in.

Thanks All
-Troy

Actually no... I was one of the first members of the Windows Technical Preview program and have had Win 10 for many months now (maybe even over a year?) and at lease for me it is better than all the ones before it.

Does it show in the Windows Partition manger?

And does the HDD ramp up when you boot into Windows?

Go into your disk management console and see if the drive is there. You may need to put the drive online, if that fails then try putting the drive in an external caddy and copy the stuff off it, format it, then put it back inside your pc, then reactive it.

Go into BIOS and see if you can see any sign of the secondary HDD being there. It could be something like the boot priority is wrong, that happened to me once.
