Hi all,
Significant other would like a new Laptop for her University work. It'll be relatively lightly used, but she said she'd like something that's not sluggish. Decent hard drive would be great.
Budget is around £400, and Amazon is preferred, but not necessary.
Mainly posting as would love to know if you guys had recently seen a good deal!

I have a few recommendations! The first is actually a lot under your £400 budget yet I've had some hands on experience with it and it has been talked about in a lot of videos for students and the second is always recommended but packs some more performance than the first.
The [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is around £200 and although it doesn't exactly tick the hard drive space box it is light, accessible and an all round great laptop for students. Considering the price you can most definitely pick up a small portable hard drive for any media and documents (and it comes in pink). By going for this option you're probably thinking more portable and it also leaves you some spare cash for cases, bags, and any software you may need.
As always the [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] series is recommended by previous students for the great value for what you get. By clicking on the link you can see that it is packing a bit more performance than the HP Stream as well as having the larger storage. The difference is this will be a bit more heavier and is also a 15" screen instead of the 11" or 13" options!

If you buy a laptop you could replace the mechanical HDD with an SSD. That would drastically increase speed, but you would likely have less HDD space.

Go for a chrome book or a HP stream. They are great for work, presentations and especially college work as the chromebook has a 8 hour + battery life. They run fast and smooth too. And you get free cloud storage.

chrome books dont have a big HDD for documents and stuff.
