Crota's end is good for its price but id personally say house of wolves due to the fact that it has more content and alot more weapons than crota's end. It also has a longer raid and includes prison of elders which can provide very powerful weapons ^_^

I'd say House of Wolves would be the more important of the 2 to have due to the fact it has all the events to reach level 34(level cap) easier. but if you have enough i would recommend buying the season pass to get both.as CE features fun content too and some of the better weapons. if you need help, xbox one or PS4 let me know as i have 3 max characters on each console

HoW doesn't have a raid tho...

The things in the Dark Below DLC are the Crota Raid and some gear and in the House of Wolves DLC you get more gear, Prison of Elders, and House of Wolves in patrol. Both get extra missions obviously. I would say you should get the second DLC because for me all of my gear is from the second DLC now and you can easily get to level 34 with the second DLC.

Both are crap. If you really want a DLC for destiny just save your money for TTK. I wasted my money on the pass that gave me both DLC's and I only played HoW because I didn't want to waste my money. Both DLC's I maxed out both all 3 characters and got every exotic the first 3 days. Very short, repetitive and boring. Bungie really has to do good on TTK in order for me to buy any sort of DLC from Destiny again.

You need to have both DLC 1 and 2 to be able to play the Taken King. Read the small text at the bottom of the image.
