Front USB 3.0 port issue.

Hi there.
I just had my system transferred out of my old Coolermaster Scout case into a brand new Corsair 550D.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77 D3H.
The issue I'm having is, the left front usb 3.0 port will work just fine with my external hard drive, however when I connect it to the right port. It will detect the drive and lose connection constantly in a endless loop
The funny thing is, USB 2.0 devices function just fine in the port and from what I can see the pins inside don't look bent.
Is this possibly a limitation of my motherboard or is the front panel I/O header DOA?
For the record, I have tried re installing the drivers / updating them.

Check the cable is fully inserted into the socket on the motherboard and that the header on the motherboard is not damaged in any way.
This is most likely a faulty connector on the case, USB 3 uses extra pins and those might be bent or the wires to them may not be connected correctly which would lead to USB3 devices not working but USB2 devices working fine. If you can confirm this issue with other USB3 devices and if it is an issue to you return the case for another or refund.

I'm going to be taking it back to the retailer sometime next week since it still well under warranty. Such a pity, since I was really looking forward to setting this thing up completely.

on my cousins case there was no access to the front panel if you can get access without damaging the case i would advice to you could maybe see if any wires are loose.
I don't trust myself to access the front I/O board. Too scared I'll damage the case further and void warranty.

It definitely sounds like the front I/O is faulty, as I'm assuming everything worked fine with your old case. I would do some driver tests / updating before anything. If it still doesn't work, setting up an RMA would be your best bet. Better to rectify it now (or at least attempt to) since you'll still be covered.

My previous case only had USB 2.0 headers on the front, so unfortunately I couldn't confirm then.
