I am looking to purchase a Apple Watch here soon and I don't know much about them.

I see there are different models but the thing that confuses me the most is that there is a Apple Watch Sport and it's $349 when a normal one is almost $600 and I'm trying to figure out why the sport is so much cheaper then the normal one and if it's the same thing just a different band on it.

Also I don't know much about them in general so any information would be appreciated

I can help a little

The sport is the "cheap one" as it is made of plastics and does not have a sapphire crystal instead uses a material called i believe gorilla glass which is not as hard and scratches fairly easy.

While the normal one is larger possibly thinner made of stainless steel and leather strap and has sapphire glass

As far as software goes i have no clue

I have the Apple Watch Stainless Steel 42 mm and I have a friend that has the 38mm Sport. Definitely a big difference in quality. The brushed aluminum looks terrible tbh, it has a flat finish and looks cheap. The Stainless Steel is actually shiny, although it scratches relatively easily, but it can be buffed out. The screen quality is another big difference. Sapphire glass literally won't scratch, but my friends Ion X glass scratched already. Also there's a difference in screen resolution and Pixels per inch, although they're very slight. The main difference is that the Sport model really doesn't look classy, as it's not supposed to. The silicone bands are pretty nice though. But my stainless steel always looks nice, but I rarely use fitness as a result. And the band is a lot cooler (leather loop band).

It's all up to you, check out the pictures on the Apple website. They don't lie and actually accurately represent the watches. PM me if you want to know anything else, good luck!

I workout all the time that's why I was looking at the sport (also it's way cheaper) but is there any difference software wise or stuff you can do on either one or is the same all the way around just the look being different?

You can get a stainless with sport band. But there are no software changes across watch models other than the sync circle color. It's majority a look and material change between the models. Good luck on your choice. I wear my watch everyday and it holds up great.

I'm in the same situation as you cracka, I am going to go for the sport. I want it for strava mainly and for my inner geek second lol.

100% Go for the sport mate, there is no reason to go for the others.

I personally would go for the sports watch, if you are doing a lot of excercise then there is a chance that the watch would get damaged anyway. I would say both watches are great but for your purpose the sports watch sounds perfect!
