[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

This is a build my friend sent me to potentially buy, i am eager for an upgrade and i hear it is wicked fun to make your own PC, i need advice tho, as mentioned in the title.

I AM FULLY NEW TO THIS, forgive me if i sound nooby, please comment on the specs if you think i need to reduce the price at all for a different part or even replace a part completely, i would really appreciate it thanks.

EDIT: I would like to play games obviously HD (nothing like BF4 SUPER HQ), stream, record.

What's your budget and currency?
Do you need peripherals? (mouse, monitor, keyboard)
What will the PC be used for?
Will you overclock?

$1500-$2500, Canadian.
I just recently bought razed blackwidow/deathadder mouse. I have the BENQ XL24 in the list.
Gaming, CSGO mainly, i want to record/stream.
Overclock? Sorry.. not sure what this means.

The fact you dont know what overclocking makes that i7 pointless imo. The i5 4690k actually outperforms the i7 5820k when gaming because it has better per core performance. Since you wont be overclocking i think the xeon would be a much smarter choice, Similar performance to the i7 for alot less.

Um. Ok. Well, X99 is ridiculous in your case then. Since you're mainly gaming, LGA1150 will out-perform LGA2011-3, and if you're not overclocking, an unlocked CPU would be a waste.

Could do this;

1440p panel, dank SSD, SLI 970s, looks baller.

Why not? You have a large budget so can afford it, and it's obviously going to be more powerful than one GPU. You can just get one 970 if you wish though.

Just seen this. Obviously wasn't notified because the OP was edited. That build is not perfect at all. The case is ridiculous, PSU is a terrible purchase. As is the monitor, $350 for a 1080p TN panel? lol, no thx.

Almost $400 cheaper with a better PSU and SSD. Swap the 2TB HDD for a 3TB HDD, if you're going to use that much storage. 16GB RAM is unnecessary. You're mainly gaming, 8GB will be fine and you can almost add more later fairly cheap. An i7/Xeon would be more of a benefit than the extra RAM since it'll have hyperthreading, but since you're mainly gaming, an i5 would be fine. You don't know what overclocking is, so an unlocked CPU would be a waste, Xeon if you're going to do lots of editing/rendering, otherwise, save the money and get an i5-4460. No need for a full sized case at all, Define S will be perfect. Could also get this cooler if you wanted;

Stock cooler will be fine since you're not overclocking, but it's ugly and loud.

Thanks very much for your help, i swapped out the power supply, for your addition, i like the case and sorta wanna stick with it, i know its a little over the top, but it looks amazing, and has 4 built in fans, thats the main reason other than the look to why I'm going to get it, as well as i don't need to install a liquid cooler, obviously because of the fans.

The ram/HDD i will stick with, only because i plan on recording in the future, and will need the extra space, the extra RAM too, shouldn't hurt.
