Your build... no

psu is crap quality
i7 4770k and on a cheap h81 board.... No. The point of paying extra for the k edition is for the overclocking ability. You cant take full advantage of the 4770k on a h81 board.
The gpu is over priced
The ram, hard drive and case are okay.

What Does you friend plan to use the pc for?

This will perform alot better and is much more balanced. Its not very blingy but you will be getting the most performance out of your money.

Unlocked CPU on a budget motherboard, lol no. Unlocked CPU is a waste since you won't be doing any overclocking with that motherboard and the stock cooler. i7 is unnecessary for a gaming rig anyway. GTX 960 is £50 more than an R9 285, even though the 285 will out-perform it. PSU is very poor quality. Case is fantastic, have one myself in black/red but it's better to spend the majority of your budget on better components elsewhere and put them in a cheaper(but obviously still decent quality) case.

It's a little over budget if you can manage;

The 290 performs similarly to a GTX 970. The 290 is warmer and less power efficient but still a great card. If you want, grab the 450W XFX unit(instead of 550W to save £13)grab a 1TB HDD instead of the 2TB HDD and swap the 290 for a GTX 970. That motherboard supports 2-way XFire though(no SLI support) so with a PSU upgrade in the future, you could add a 2nd 290 if you wish. The motherboard is better and is fully compatible with the 4460(B85 isn't unless the BIOS has been updated which is not always the case). BX100 is a great SSD. Nicer case, the S340 is pretty much the H440's smaller brother. It has the same looks, with the window and PSU shroud but is a little smaller.
