For some reason my windows explorer (browsing through folders) has slowed down quite a bit. I'm not sure what information you need from me to help fix it, but it takes seconds to open a new folder when I click on it. Opening a file/program within the folder is at a normal speed.

I am on windows 7 hahaha So I'm not sure. It is not my RAM or CPU. It happened recently after downloading some things but I am not sure what ones.

Install [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] which will get rid of any junk on your PC e.g temp files.

You can also speed this up by purchasing an SSD and putting windows on it.

let us know if that helped it or not and if it didn't, could you give us more detail please.

here are some of the steps I do to give my pc a bit of life;

open run type %appdata% and clear the folder

open run type %temp% and clear the folder

open run type msconfig - disable some of the start up programs.

run Ccleaner and run a defragging program

use TreeSize to find any old folders and junk you dont need - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

do a disk check -
CHKDSK [volume[[path]filename]] [/F] [/V] [/R] [/X] [/I] [/C] [/L[:size]]

The options and switches for Check Disk are used as follows:
volume Sets the volume to work with
path/filename Specifies files to check for fragmentation (FAT16 and FAT32 only)
/F Fixes errors on the disk
/V Displays the full path and name of every file on the disk (FAT16 and FAT32); displays cleanup messages if any (NTFS)
/R Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information (implies /F)
/X Forces the volume to dismount first if necessary (implies /F)
/I Performs a minimum check of index entries (NTFS only)
/C Skips checking of cycles within the folder structure (NTFS only)
/L:size Sets the log file size (NTFS only)
/B Re-evaluates bad clusters on the volume (NTFS only; implies /R)

Download malware bytes and run a scan to make sure there's nothing malicious on your pc

uninstall any old unused software from control panel.

Another option is to buy an SSD, this will drastically improve your pc speed.

If you can, upload a photo of the performace tab in task manager

Deleting the temp folder shouldn't affect anything unless it's become extremely large or fills up your drive. It shouldn't do this unless if software is managing temp files correctly.

Make sure you have drive indexing turned on, especially if you have a mechanical drive, and check the disk and CPU usage of the SearchIndexer.exe process in the Details tab of Task Manager.

Defrag your drive and make sure it's not almost full.

If all else fails, use the diagnostic tool from the drive's manufacturer to make sure it's not failing.

I am on an SSD already and it is around 10-15gb left till full. It seems like my issue was actually Xbox360 Neighborhood for my RGH. When I close out of the programs process in task manager everything runs fine again.

SSD require something like 25% free disk space to run properly. You just need to give it a clean! use tree size, I gave a link in my previous post.
