Hey I need help.. I need to get rid of a RAT virus.. What do I do?.. I used to have one then reset my computer to factory settings.. But idk if it is back.. Because I'm not so sure if all they need is an ip.. I thought I just needed to download a software.. But no.. It happen last time without an application, but is it possible for them to just control my computer with a simple ip address? Is there a way to check?.. Or am I just overreacting?..

They cannot control ur computer with your IP address. You would of had to click on a website and accepted something which would download a JAVA file in the background. If you think you have one reset your computer completely, this will remove the RAT. Never go on websites you have never heard of, or random ppl send you.

unless u got infected with a well written botnet stub, some of wich will survive a factory reset or complete instillation of a OS, but no u cant get infected directly or very easily just from ur ip
