Could someone help explain this? So I want to get a tv tuner, I have bt vision downstairs and my xbox one is upstairs, For my to utilize the bt vision channels does the bt vision box need to be plugged in or is the Ariel in my room sufficient?

Im pretty sure you need to have the cable box used as the hdmi input for it to work

The tv tuner is for receiving freeview tv in uk I think.
